Thanks maniac, but all I can see on that page is ????????????????????????????????. I see you're Polish - is it a Polish page?
No, this page is in japanese... You may translate it to english using http://translate.google.com/translate_t?langpair=ja|en.
BTW. I'm also trying to get one of this beauties on ebay… :)

Hi,
no need to reverse enginering - You can find simple solution on this site: <http://homepage2.nifty.com/rjb/cmu800.htm>

Wow, now it costs about 180$ more, then on ebay...

Another MidiboxSID on allegro (biggest auctions site in Poland).
Probably it's one bought from ebay...

HI,
try this software: http://inkscape.org/ - really good vector based graphic editor for linux, similar to Corel Draw.
If it will help, i can print panel template from midibox site to PDF or bitmap and send it to You.

I'm confused...
looking on bd50xg doughter board: analog GND is definitely separated from digital GND, but it's impossible to guess whether PIN 8 is connected or not. Unfortunately I don't have soundcard with waveblaster socket and I’m not able to activate daughter board :/
From the other hand: there are options 'receive bank' & 'transmit bank' in XG Gold editor. Don't know if it works with db50xg or not. Probably works with sw60xg / mu10 ...
-
Unless the Yanaha is non standard, the normal waveblaster connector does not provide MIDI out: AFAIK, waveblaster cards are MIDI-in only.
There is a midi out signal on PIN 8. http://www.mupro.de/index.shtml?page=/wblast.htm
Probably used also by Roland or Korg waveblaster cards ?
-
As I remember db50xg in QS300 mode has bank of 8 or 16 slots for user patches. Midi out might be usfull for storing patches in sequencer or in midibox memory.
-
db50xg can emulate QS300 sounds.
Check this site - http://www.midiweb.de/ - there is a program called 'XG-Gold' - IMHO best editor for db50xg.
As You can see on the screens, there is a lot of things, which can be controlled real-time (4 parts, each with independent LP filter with envelope etc...).
In fact i was thinking about building dedicated midibox surface for db50xg in QS300 mode, but I didn’t realized this plan so far...

Yes, the reason of the problems was javabug. With midi midi-yoke/midi-ox everything works fine.
Thank You Thorsten :-)

Hi,
I have a strange problem with JSynthLib. When I start the program everything works fine, but whet I try to modify envelope (only envelope, knobs and other controls works fine), jsynthlib starts to react very slowly. After that it’s impossible to edit patch. Only solution i have found is to close program and run it again.
This is probably software/configuration problem connected with my new computer. I'have tested 3 versions of JSynthLib and always the same result - not only in Midibox sid editor, but also in other editors with envelope control.
Maybe somebody had the same problem and can halp me ?
My setup:
Computer: WinXP
Java: 1.5.0_06
Midi: jamaha cbx driver (serial) / Emu 0404

'Hidden' QS300 mode works on db50XG, SW60XG (db50XG on ISA soundcard - very noisy) and MU10 (standalone module - hard to find, noisy when you use audio input).
IMHO db50xg is the best option - it offers better sound quality then sw60xg/mu10 and it's easy to make it 'standalone' ;)
db50XG does not have audio input.
Unfortunetly it's impossible to recreate QS300 sounds on MU50/80/90/100 :(

d2k -> thanks for this link, it is, whot i was looking for :)
The other question is how to translate midi commands into MPU-401 (whot should i send to the soundcard).
If somebady has informations about MPU-401 programming and/or sw60xg soundcard, please let me know :)
BTW. ISA bridge is a very good idea - fm synt combined with sid synth... and sb live card for effects... :o

Hi,
i have Yamaha SW60XG soundcard, which is really good. Unfortunetly it is old ISA soundcard, so it is imposible to use it with modern computers.
I just wonder if it's possible to connect it to PIC somehow ? Card do not use IRQ and DMA.
If You heve any knowledge about isa protocol, or any idea how to do it, please let mi know :)

Hm... Midibox SID with alesis AL3201 reverb...
It woul'd be great :)

I just can't wait, I have to ask You one more question: is it correct list of modules for fully featured SIDBOX with one SID ?
1 CORE with PIC18F
1 SID
2 DIN (1 for encoders, 1 for buttons),
2 DOUT (leds & ledrings)
1 LTC
1 LCD
1 BANKSTICK
I'm just going to start work as soon as possible. Im not good in soldering and it will be long process... But it's worth it :)

Great panel, The LCD is 16x4 ? I would add two more LEDS (midi in/out - Â not very useful, but I like shining LEDs 8) ).
I'm wonder, if movement of encoders will be transmitted by midi ? It would be great to add special mode to control external modules (eg. VSTi) instead of internal SID - it would be cheaper solution, then building MIDIBOX SID and MIDIBOX16E/64E/NG ?
