  1. Thanks for the reply Thorsten!

I am aware of the effort you spend on your project and I surely don't want to e a pain in the ass!

The only reason I asked about this chip is the simplicity of the circuits (and the already built codes) that microchip offers for USB keyboard, mouse and joystick!

So I thought maybe it could have been that easy.

Thanks for all the amazing project!

  2. I found out today that microchip has a new PIC for USB.

PIC18F4550 is even usb2 compliant, is in a pdip 40pin package easy to solder, and comes in free samples from microchip!

I don't know if it could be used for midibox to usb or  what the effort will be , but I think that it is worth a look by T.K. or those who are into programming PICs.

  3. Hi all (ones with more electronics knowlege than me!)

    I want to build a car charger for a friend's mp3 player.

It says it need 5v (I think about 400-500 ma).

Is it OK if I just use a 7805 directly from the car's lighter-outlet or are there any dangers I should consider? maybe i need some filter caps?

    any advice is welcome!

    Thanks , uclaros

  4. I believe this nationalization is not such a good idea. Problems will be posted to the national forums and will not be read by others having the same probs!

In order to know who's near you we can allways use the "map thing" someone has posted.

What I believe will be VERY usefull to many people is "collective orders" and "part swapping". Midibox construction can be very cheaper if we use mass ordered parts for lower prices.

And last, about that "pic burning" , I know that it is a pain to try and answer to all people having a simple (or not) problem with JDM, BUT debuging the JDM is a good start for the midibox project. Most often the problems are bad soldering or something similar. If people start ordering preburned pics, then the JDM problems will become CORE problems etc.

    collective orders!collective orders!collective orders!!!

  5. Well, what I actually mean is the opposite of the "toaster" that Ryan posted!

I thought of a driver for the PC that translates the incoming midi messages to moves of a virtual joystick!

On that way you could have a joystick with not only 4 analog axes and 4 buttons that the gameport supports!

  6. Hi,

what you ask for is more than easy for you to do.

The floorboard code is written for both note on-off and CC# messages!

You just have to edit main.asm and change:

    #define USED_AS_KEYBOARD

    to 1

then of course you have to re-compile it with mpasm and then burn the pic with the new .HEX

  7. I'd give it a 4/10...

    Soirry pal...

And even if more people thought that midibox indeed needed a logo, I suggest to have a ompetition or something!

Ps. I agree about that North America fact!

It's kindof like why on the globe europe and north america is on top and africa and south america on the bottom thing...
