But as for pots and buttons, I don't think you will be able to build a midibox on samples...
Even if a company sent out such samples, they wouldn't send you more than a few (witch is a lot less than you need for a midibox!)

Well, I definitely suggest using the yabbse.
I've used a few of the forums around on my site, and yabbse php/mysql is by far the best and fastest!
So maybe a try should be done with the converter at their site. If it won't work, nothing will have changed!

Hi!
You have no reason not to go for a MIOS based project.None! It needs the same effort for you to build, but it is more versatile and future expandable!
You will use the midibox64v2 application and you can controll anything that is midi controllable!

It's easy to do.
The next versions of Yabb (this forum) have it!
I use the PHP/MySQL version and is quite faster too!

After setting the pots in vmidibox, you have to send the sysex to midibox.
After that you should see on the edit events menu the CC#s of each pot.

have you set the faders to a perticular CC# with vmidibox? (or with the built in fnction in MB64v2)

Well, this issue has been discussed again some time...
The problem is that the USB port can supply pretty low current to power a full midibox, lcd, backlight etc.
(500mA I think... correct me someone if I'm wrong).
So, a kind of minimal midibox could be usb powered, as long as it consumes less than 500 mA. (you wouldn't want a blown motherboard especially on your laptop...)
Maybe for the laptop you could take power staight from the battery...

the thing about the buttons that pulsewidth mentioned:
In your case, let's say that the button is assigned to CC#1. When you send CC#1 values 0-21 it wil change to osc1. When u send values 22-43 it'll change to osc2, 44-65 to mix and so on...
In mios though someone could build a function for a key that does this job.Quite interesting it might be!
A button that each time it's pressed sends previous value + 127/x , where x could be the adjustable number of steps..

You dn't have to build the whole dinx4 module.
You can build a small dinx1 with only one ic and wire it on a vectorboard easily...

I just used yestrday a hair dryer to blow on the etchant.
It keeps the water warm and it also shakes it.
The proccess was a lot faster this way!

You Should build circuits on pcb since it's hell of a lot easier!
