  1. Cool.. Thanks dragon. Blimey, a bit of common sense and educated guessing actually pays off!  8) EDIT: If anyone is stuck with converting values (e.g. nF to pF or µF) there is a value converter on this page http://www.free-treasures.com/units_converter.htm . Scroll down to "The Prefixes of the S I" then click on the Conversion Calculator. Or here is a direct link: http://www.ex.ac.uk/cimt/dictunit/ccprefix.htm 8)
  2. Hi! I'm trying to order the parts for my MBHP core module but i'm a little confused about a couple of things :-/. Firstly, ceramic capaicitors - my local electronics store Maplin (www.maplin.co.uk) sells "Decoupling Ceramic Disc Capacitors", "Metallised Ceramic Plate Capacitors", and finally "Resin-Dipped Ceramic Capacitors". Which do i need for the board (the values are 100 nF, 330 nF, and 33 pF). From TK's pictures they look like resin-dipped caps to me ;). Does it make any difference which i use? Also a question about resistors (hope i'm not boring you!): Maplin doesnt stock the 0.25w resistors that i needed for my JDM programmer (which i built! yeah!) so they said 0.6w ones will work fine. Is the wattage\voltage rating the maximum watts\volts it can handle, or the optimum working condition? I guess its the maximum voltage but i'd like to be sure before one of my caps gets too much voltage and blows up in my face ::). Thanks for your help guys, and thanks to TK as it's giving me a better understanding of MIDI and MIDI hardware ! Paul
  3. Well.. I ordered my PCB's on Monday night, sent the Euro's late Tuesday afternoon.. and I got my PCB's today!!!!!! YEAH! That's helluva fast! I've already built my JDM programmer, now I just need to desolder the parts from my first attempt at a Midibox 16 ::) (i built it on veroboard.. took about 3 months, I switched it on, and it didnt work :-/). Today I finally worked out how to solder properly - don't bother with veroboard when you can get top quality printed boards and very reasonable prices direct from Germany! I'm really excited about getting a new PIC18F452 to burn in my new programmer ;D . I'll soon be ready to take over the world with my humble 16 pots and 12 buttons :).
