  1. can you not order them off their website? I ordered a few chips from farnell off their website, they are pretty quick too.
  2. Heh the press hasnt got hold of it yet ;) I need to find some 2.5mm screws for my LCD, and i cant find them anywhere :-/. Looks like its back to the "revolutionary screwless fixing material" for me :) I'm gonna polish it up at some point, but its giving me random data right now (from analog pot 14), but i'm too busy with university to sort it out right now :( but i cant wait to get it sorted! I've been showing everyone on my music course and telling them to make their own by coming to ucapps and having a look! Keep up the good work TK!
  3. Lo all.. hope you are all well! Just to let you know I got some pics of my finally finished box.. check out the front panel - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/art/midi_front.jpg and the rear - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/art/midi_rear.jpg Cheers! PW
  4. Hi. Yeah i think many people have had these problems, my self included. Have a look at what steps i took to get my core working here - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/midifaq/midi%20faq.htm Let us know if this helps! PW
  5. Hey Poeloq & nILS - the portal looks fantastic guys!! Nice one! Please feel free to take the information off the FAQ i started - the source is all included in this link - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/midifaq/MidiFAQ.zip http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/midifaq/midi%20faq.htm <-- thats just the page I think it would be cool if there was some way to upload questions and solutions (with php maybe? i dunno i'm not leet :D), as people find out so the FAQ is continually growing and becoming a better source. But keep up the good work guys anyway! p.s. i havent been in the midibox channel for a while because i'm back at uni now, and my free time is gradually slipping away from me.. but i'll pop back randomly just to keep the element of surprise there! Also as soon as i can find some 2.5 mm screws to fix my LCD to my shiny new box, there'll be some nice new pictures of it - no joke this time, it actually looks good! :o ::) p.p.s did ya miss me!? :P
  6. Hahahaha yeah i thought it looked too commercial. Some pics are coming of a REAL case soon! One made out of shiny metal! I just this second finished building it, and i'll take some pics when my new camera comes!

  10. Introducing the ECOBox 32. The worlds first enviromentally friendly midibox. Built from tough cardboard and housed in a hinged box, you can be assured this wont be making the hole in the ozone layer larger. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/ecobox/index.htm Well.. it might be reducing the size of the rain forest... but you don't care about that do you? ;D

  12. Sure thing mate if you pay the postage! PM me if you want my address. Word of warning - i go to uni on 20th September, so you'd need to send before then, or wait till after then and ship to my new address! Do you just want the bootstrap loader on?
  13. Mmmmmm she's a hot one! Just screams TOUCH ME! doesnt it! Very nice..
  14. Yes, they are some hot knobs ;) Never thought i'd say that :o
  15. (Reposted from monday) I've been trying to debug my dinx4, as i've been having problems with it. the LCD reads: Recieved a DIN event 14/x (where x = 0 and 1 switching at high speed randomly). Midi ox confirms this as - 000097F7 1 -- B0 0E 00 1 --- Control Change 00009807 1 -- B0 0E 7F 1 --- Control Change 0000980C 1 -- B0 0E 00 1 --- Control Change 0000981B 1 -- B0 0E 7F 1 --- Control Change 00009820 1 -- B0 0E 00 1 --- Control Change 0000982E 1 -- B0 0E 7F 1 --- Control Change 00009833 1 -- B0 0E 00 1 --- Control Change 00009842 1 -- B0 0E 7F 1 --- Control Change 00009847 1 -- B0 0E 00 1 --- Control Change 00009857 1 -- B0 0E 7F 1 --- Control Change 0000985C 1 -- B0 0E 00 1 --- Control Change 0000986A 1 -- B0 0E 7F 1 --- Control Change The problem only seems to stop if i connect pin 15 of the 2nd multiplexor to another pin (e.g. pin 16). This stops the control at Recieved a DIN event 14/1. Does this sound like a faulty resistor connected to pin 15? Or faulty multiplexor? If not any suggestions before i hard wire pins 15+16 together and lose a button :'(. Thanks for your time!
  16. Thanks for the info, i tried editing mios_tables and to my surprise it worked :D. Now to try and work out what cc's to use, and to convert that number to whatever is being used (hex?). Woah.. i just figured out its just 00-0F for 1-16! (10-1F for 17-32 etc)! ::) Now to set it up for novation v-station :-*
  17. Yeah i burnt the edited ain64_din128_dout128_v1_3 firmware, which worked, but i get no menu - just "waiting for AIN or DIN". I wanted the menu so i could enable midi learn mode and midi merger mode. I've looked thru the other firmwares, and read some of the functions, but i just dont understand at all. i might just have to use the ain64_din128_dout128_v1_3 firmware, and play my midi parts/record my pot tweaks seperately, and find some app to route the incoming midi signal to the cc# i need  :'( EDIT: I just noticed that my exact specification is the same as midibox plus 16 - is there a mios port of that firmware?
  18. Introducing a revolutionary design in midiboxing ---- The Pulsebox 16. * Hand crafted by Tibetan Monks. * Outstanding build quality and design * Make all yer mates jelous! View the glossy advert - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/pb16--ad.jpg ==== Yes its a joke!
  19. That is one of the hottest designs i've seen in a while! Actually i've yet to see a rubbish design from anyone on here! I really love the colours and lines/shapes used looks retro, but still modern :).. modern-retro if you will ;D Kinda reminds me of an Access Virus B :) don't know why.. You're very lucky that you know both a carpenter AND a metal worker!
  20. Thanks for your reply man. Nice to know other people dont have a clue when they start :). If i load the ain64_din128_dout128_v1_3 do i just need to change ;; use 64 pots movlw 64 call MIOS_AIN_NumberSet to ;; use 16 pots movlw 16 call MIOS_AIN_NumberSet ? Does it matter that i dont have any dout? Well i'm gonna edit that firmware and test now because i'm itching to make some music!
  21. Anyone programmed a 16 pot 8 button MIOS firmware? Thats what i got and it all works using the test firmwares. But i want the addition of menus and stuff so i can configure what it sends. I tried making my own but i havent got a clue what i'm doing ::) (a bit like when i built it :D).
  22. Hello me again ::) After getting my pots up and running i thought i'd move onto the buttons. I connected up 16 buttons, using a dinx4, with all resistors and ICs stuffed. I burned the test firmware, and started pressing the buttons one by one to check they are ok. The only problem is after about 7 seconds (or it could be when i push a specific button, or just random) button 14 starts toggling on and off randomly but really fast - so the lcd (i love my working backlit lcd ;D) always says something like 14 / 0 or 14 / 1 (the number 0,1, moves so fast you cant distinguish it). I actually pressed button 14 and i'm not sure if it stopped it (i'm at work and i'm trying to describe it from memory). I tryed to test using continuity on my multimeter, but i'm not sure how to test, due to the way the buttons are connected together. Does this seem like a broken / faulty button, or something more serious? I'll disconnect the button later and see what happens, but i just thought i'd post a message to see if anyone else had these problems. Cheers! Paul
  23. go on the ucapps.de website, scroll down on the left till you see "MIOS" click on "Bootstrap Loader" (I guess you already found this page if you've burn the bootstrap firmware). Scroll down on the bootstrap page till you get to "Solution" and download and set up Midi-Ox as described. Then when you power on the core with the PIC18 stuffed, and midi out connected you should see SysEx string "F0 00 00 7E 40 00 F7" this is a request for upload which also serves as proof that the bootstrap loader is downloaded correctly. If you have anymore problems look at my FAQ at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/keith.williamson/midifaq/midi%20faq.htm If that doesnt solve it post a message here, and then email me so i can add the solution to my FAQ! ;)
  24. From what i understand, the crystal on the Core is required to make the PIC perform correctly, where the crystal (1mhz?) on the SID is to make the SID chip function correctly! You should just be able to connect the pots to AIN module, making sure to connect the 4051 multiplexors :) Sorry if any of the above is wrong :D Please don't sue me
  25. Awesome :) The more people helping the better it will be. You should be able to download the zip file containing all the necessary stuff. Feel free to edit it and i'll upload it! Anyone want to add anything - just PM me and i'll put it in! I started to go thru every post in order to put it online, but I got tired too quickly ::)
