  1. so, i can send 14bit with all controllers, but the real resolution of faders is 10bit, right? i have some other questions regarding lc application. i need the led lights to be controlled exclusively via midi in messages, is it a simle thing to modify in the code? i want to control the leds (not the led rings) with notes and their color with the velocity value. is it possible to enable rgb led handling? i think to a function that assciate a different colors to different velocity values... can i write it using c language? about rgb led colors... using them simply connected to 3 dout contscts the possible colors will be 8... is it possible to connect each pin to two dout contacts with different voltages? this solution could bring 27 possible colors! is there enough memory in the pic to add rgb handling and velocity pads to the lc application?
  2. another question: is it possible to go under 1millisecond rate for the scaling on the velocity value?
  3. http://www.happcontrols.com/interactive/accessories/95073301.htm is this switch usable for velocity application? i bought some happ ultimate pushbuttons for some of my projects... i really like happ products, i would like to use illuminated rectangle pushbuttons to buile a 4x3 row of sensitive pads.. do you think it's possible?
  4. i know that the velocity sensitive implementation exists... but (this is what i understand) it needs special buttons. i want to know if it is possible to write an implementation\algorithm to use normal momentary pcb buttons as velocity sensitive. setting a fixed note duration (good to trigger drum samples) and calculating velocity on the time interval between on hold and release... can you give me a link or a picture of this rjs buttons??? and about the velocity application in the download section of ucapps... can you explain exactly how those spdt buttons work? i know that the normal keyboards calculate velocity values measuring the time interval of two contacts that are lightly distant each other... i searched on the web for spdt or push push buttons... and i see that all these switches have a single little button!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! :'( :'( please can you give me some links where i can read a king of datasheet of the button i have to buy???
  5. there will be a software application that stores the datas of many pages of assignments. a joystick will send messages to the computer to switch between pages. everytime i select a new page an "update" will occur, so every led ring and motor fader will take his position. i want to use eight motor faders, eight endless knobs with lad rings and 24 illuminated buttons. i want to know if there is a way to send and update using non midi datas... to prevent from loosing precious milliseconds.. how much time is needed to send midimessages of an whole update of all positions for a midibox lc? my midi-box concept will work only in combination with his software, so the messages that the box sends are fixed. they don't need to be midi messages, formed of 3 bytes. it is possible to use non midi messages of 1 byte or 2? and about the midi feedback: i want to know if cubase and othes programs use midi messages or sysx messages to set a new position of a fader\led ring.
  6. is the usb connection faster then midi? is it possible to allow a midibox to send and recive non midi datas. tis because i'm thinking to a special appication that runs exclusively on pc... i want to develop a software that will communicate with the hardaware box in the faster way possible. the handling of midi will be only software based. the project is based on midibox lc, with endless encoders and motorfaders. a lot of updates of the controller position will be often needed, because there will be a joystick to switch between "pages", each containing a set of assignments. the software that this midibox will be builded for is energy-xt. a baeutiful modular host. since the set of midiout(or sysxout) signals from the box is fixed, i want to know if there is a way to make updates data transfer as fast as possible. (an update is the list of the state of all controllers in the box) it makes sense to use usb? or midi is fast enough? where can i find more documentation about the midibox lc hardware? how the software sequencers like cubase send a feedback to the midibox? how dk2 and other midibox lc builders chained many midiboxes in a single unit? if i succeed in using a non midi communication protocol between the hardware and the pc-software, is it possible to have a higher resolution for the faders? of course i need a lot of help... i have many programming skilled friends that will help me, but the most important hel will come from this forum!! thanks
  7. anyway... can someone give me some links to spdt switches usable in midibox projets... i would like to use happ illuminated pushbuttons to trigger spdt's
  8. is it possible to use normal on\off buttons as velocity sensitive triggers? i think that measuring the delay between on and off we can calculate the velocity. obviously we will have a fixed note duration. and even if we hold the button pressed the note will play after the maximum time measurement (example 1,5 or 2 ms) i think that under 2ms of the result could be fine can someone make this kind of algorithm?

  10. is it possible to load or convert sidstation patches???
  11. hey s.m. did you try to add internal midi out?? is it possible to have the original sinthedit patch to make the vst compatible with energy xt?
  12. is it possible to implemet rgb leds that will output different colors regarding the position of a knob or a slider or the pitch of a pressed note? i think that in combination with happ pushbuttons, the final effect would be beautiful!
  13. seppoman, you talked about a slow response of your vfd display... will this delay affect even the sound of my sid? However, if you can send me your driver within an e-mail i'll try to connect all. but be patient, since i'm a newbie not so expert in electronixx, could you send me an interconnection diagram for the pinning? will i have to power my vfd separately of the core will send the power to it?
  14. it's a noritake CU40026SCPB-T20A 2x40 VFD i'll have to look for compatibility...
  15. this is the pinning of my new vfd display... is it possible to connect it to the core? Pin no. function 1 d7 2 d6 3 d5 4 d4 5 d3 6 d2 7 d1 8 d0 9 /wr 10 /cs 11 sin/test 12 busy 13 gnd 14 gnd 15 vcc 16 vcc
  16. i'm trying to build a new sid synth stuffed with an 8580 chip.. the powering of the core is ok (around 5,3v) the lcd works correctly the interconnection test is ok the voltage of the sid is around 8,90v when i play some notes i only ear small changes in the noise floor, i think that there is no problem on the 8580 chips.. because i have meny ones and the problem is the same with all my chips... and i can hear that the slight noisy sound is very similar to the sound of the patch i select tryed to remove the crystal and connected to the j7 of the core... but the problem is the same tryed to use a different powering but nothing... thoug the voltages are ok the synth does not work. tryed to substitute the protection transistor but nothing... uff! with some other 8580 chips what i hear is only 50hz hum and when i play notes that hum is "modulated" by something that i don't understand... may be omething wrong in the core? i noticed that the current to the sid was too low (ca. 4,5v) so i used the same 5vdc to power separately the core and the sid (74hc595 section) used high quality cables for audio... nothing it seem that i hear the only typical sid noise floor (with relative changing, tuning, regarding the played notes) but not the sid sounds!! any idea??
  17. ... the core and the sid, were working until some days ago... the only thig i've done is soldering the connections!!
  18. today i soldered the connections between a core module and a sid. but once i powered them i noticed that the core was dead. no midi signals of any type. ... i soldered the connections while the core was still in his socket! is it possible that the pic has been damaged?? i tryed to reload the sid application but the core does not send any feedback message... the connection with the computer is ok, i tested it with my first sid-synth(the master) and everything is ok.. is my pic fired? is it possible to reprogram it?
  19. i have a nice and usefull program: energ xt (demo version dowloadable from the site http://www.xt-hq.com/ ) with this progam you can use vst instruments (and even sequencers, arpeggio generators etc etc...) like modules in a modular synth... try to belive! but when i load the sid vst control there is not the midi out to connect it to the output of energy xt... it's hard to explain... and i'm not so good in english... i think that if you dowload the demo version of this great program and try to use this with vst sid control you'll understand.
  20. solorin, i sent you a personal message for infos on how to buy ... did you recive it?
  21. another nice feature for sound designers: when the master core recives a midi sequence (a polyphonic melody or a chord) it "splits" the chord to the four sids and to different midi channels via midi out. many vst intruments and many virtual-analog synthesizers are multitimbral and have multiple audio outs... is possible to mix the different outs of a virtual-analog synth (played via mb-sid midi out) with the outs of the sids and then turn them all into voltage controlled analog filters. it means... huge sound!
  22. i found thil nice display.. http://cgi.ebay.it/VFD-Vaccuum-Fluorescent-Display-80-Characters_W0QQitemZ7596556846QQcategoryZ26206QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting can i use it for my midibox sid? is it possible to have the complete contol surface while using a 2x40 diplay?
  23. i think that a "multi patch" saving would be useful it will contain the four patches per sid and some system configurations... including the function of the assing knobs i never completed my mb-sid with four cores, i always used it in mono. but i tried it in combination with analog filters... the sound is very rich and powerfull... using four cores with four external filters we have a four voice killer synth... a "duophonic" funcion will be usefull for some stereo sound constructions. sid1+2 and sid3+4. ... i don't understand what is the "stereo control" that you planned tk. is it for controlling cem3379?? ... a suggestion about the tb303 distorted sound... i wondered for a great distorsion sound for a long time, and the greatest sound i ever heard is the Real McTube from www.tonepad.com i realized a stereo version with special high quality powering. a mono signal is distorted two times by two tubes, so the final sound is pseudo stereo... is strongly different from tb303 sound but is perfect on sid square waves!
  24. hi davo. i gave you an answer by my e-mail account. but i'm not sure that it works... can you confirm that you recived my e-mail? thanks
