Do u think that the analog joystick of an old psx works with a midibox SID too?
-
I tried to test my jdm but something gone wrong! I downloaded the ICprog. I made all settings as required (Windows Xp) and i tried to mesure voltage but my multimeter shown me 0 value. I tried again with old version of ICprog A & C) but the strange thing is that now if i click on hardware to make again the settings, icprog crashand it's impossible for me to test jdm. ICprog crashes even if i disconnect jdm from com port. I downloaded DirctIO.zip and userport but nothing change. Any suggestion? lee

Finally i have started to build my midibox_2xSID. IIt's a very exciting experince for a guy without electronic skills like me. And this is the reason i'm writing : i need help. This is what i need to know. About mbhp_2xSID_C64_PSU Is it possible to use : -KBLI0 AC instead of B40C800 ? -2200uF/35V instead of 2200uF/25V &2200uF/16V; 2200uF/16V of last SID to reduce digital noise hum? About MBHP_JDM Is it possible to use: -22uF/63V instead of 22uF/16V? About ground connection Mbhp_sid, Mbhp_ltc, Mbhp_DINX4 require some ceramic caps (100nF) under the pcb: how do i make the connection? where is the ground of pcb? (is it any part without printed track?) About cermaic caps 100n, i found a different type of caps: they are 100nF but my dealer called them "multilayer" (I’m not sure about translation; 104/CSK - 523/RSA this is what is wrote above). Do u know them? Can i use them without problem? Every pdf scheme files show me some ground connections: do I have to realize them too? Isolated connection of Mbhp_dinx4 The gif file is not so clear: do i make a bridge between hole under 74HC165 and CLI/15 of IC? Styroflex caps It's impossible to find this kind of caps: i have the 470pF styroflex for SID 6581 but i have not the two caps for SID 8580. What can i do? Can i use a different and more common caps? CORE module after build this module, i note that under thc pic socket there is an hole (this is near the pin 22). i found a pdf file called power fix: What is it? 10k resistor can be removed from new project: in this case the 2 holes remain free or do i have to shorted them? Burning pic I don't understand if i need to soldering the 10k resistor at pin RB3 to programming a new pic. tnx to everyone for patient

Hello i found one swicht SPDT: can i use it for my C64 PSU circuits? (the strange thing is that i read on it "ON -ON") lee

tnx for reply marcel but yr switches are DPST and not DPDT....will they work?
-
just another little favour...:) what kind of switch on/off do i buy for my psu board? I know that i need a double switch on/off...maybe...called SPDT. Can u check this web page for me? http://www.alltronics.com/switches.htm tnx a lot

i forgot to ask u if joystick with two 150Kpots and joystick with two 50K pots are the same for my need. However...yes!...good price...unfortunately i'm Italian...and store is in USA;))))
-
http://www.alltronics.com/resistors.htm Do u think that the "joystick with two pots" of this site could be a good choice?
-
tnx for reply:) Do i eliminate rotary encoder if i chose to use joystick? in this case i'll make mod to my mbsd but i did find anything about in the forum: p-cord, can u give me the link?

the idea is that one to use one small lamp (it should be more luminous than a simple one led) in order to illuminate the box from the inside. You say that the light emitted from the led can be enough? About joy: i'll try to find more info. tnx

Any suggestion? lee

Hello is it possible to put into my midiboxSID (step B) a joystick instead of pot? What kind of joy can i use (1 o 2 pots)? What kind of connection do i have to make? Another question: i want to use led on/off in a different way. I think to put my midiboxSID into a plexyglass box and to use a small coloured lamp (insted of small led) in order to illuminate the synth from the inside. What kind of lamp can i use? The question is to know if i can use the same connection of led and if the C&$ psu is able to feed energy to 2SID+ lamp. tnx P.S. Just another thing: i read in a post something about the possibility to have "direct save buttons": is it possible? any link about this?

The first number (before the "C") is the maximum input voltage for the rectifier. So both are OK (40 Volt max. rating is more than enough). But if you use the 64 PSU schematic, you won't need them on the core board because the PSU supplies already 5VDC. Raphael ok...so if i use an old C64 psu i don't need to put B40C800/B80C800 into MBHP_CORE but only into MBHP_SID, is it right? tnx a lot leelinn

Hi tnx for reply all my questions: a)I need 7809 or 78L09 for SID 8580 and caps 6,8nF (poralised or ceramic one?) b) How many C64 psu do i need to feed 2MBHP_CORE&2MBHP_SID? (in the midiboxSID step B pic it seems theat all modules are connected to 2 PSUs) c) What kind of components do i need to build the "small circuits" to optimized psu? (board 1000holes, 1x470nF/50V ceramic?,1x1N4001)? d)In this schematics of the circuit mentioned above there are 2 power switch: do i use two or can i connect the circuit to one? e)SID6581 and SID 8580....no mod. to psu board, is it right? f) What is the difference between B40C800 and B80C800? In the core web page, in the compnent list B40C800 is required but in the txt file (order list) i find B80C800. for the moment this is everything...i hope!!!!;) tnx to everyone leelinn

I have one SID 6581 and my friend give me a second SID: unfortunately, this one is a SID8580. The question is this: is it possible to build my midiboxSID (2SID version) using two different chips? Do i need to modify somtehing into mbhp_SID module? leelinn

Hi, do you know if it is possible to use a different rotary encder for my project? I find one one voti.nl web site but i need only 1 rot. enc. so i have to pay more for shipping cost (i'm Italian) than for item. So i need to know if there is a more common item to use ( common---> that it is possible to buy in to a local elec. shop)

Hi Illogik, i sent mail to reichelt web store: as i know they have good prices but unfortunately they make order of more 100euro....this is a problem because my order list is not so expensive.
-
I don't know if it is better to order all parts for my mbSID to a local store (they don't know English so well...like me ;D) or to order from web store. however i have some doubt: about core order list: a psu is listed but if i use an old C64 psu i don't need to buy another, is it right? in the jdm order list there is a list dated 2002 and one dated 2003: in this last there is a list of part (priced in $) different form 2002 one? Do i need to buy all parts (2002+2003) or not? tnx for help leelinn

What do u think about the item below? Can i use it for my midibox sid? (i think i don't need of rotary encoder and 5 buttons- this display seems to include them...?!?) http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=12949&item=5755452365&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V leelinn

maybe this could be a "minchiata" (this is Italian guys!! ;D) however: what do i do to know if my SIDs are ok? Is there a way to test 6581s before to put them on mbhp_sid modules? ( unfortunately i have not the other parts of C64) leelinn

Does anyone know if there is a store where i can buy one plexiglas box?

Hi is it possible to use a 4x20 LCD blue with backlit? I find one to a very low price. Just a little curiosity: does lcd show only words in midibox sdi? or does it show any graphic?

tnx a lot...just read everything ;)
