  1. Yeah, now that I have an excuse to YouTube something interesting, I might just do that... I just have to work out how to gaffer tape my camcorder to my head.  ;)

Might have to reach out to an action sports film crew, haha. Or you could try suspending it from the ceiling. :) As nice as the controller is, think about putting video up on a site that doesn't kill the video quality, like this: http://stage6.divx.com/user/Denkitribe/video/1072802/KORG-KAOSS-PAD-KP3-(7)

  2. Has anyone seen any really good tutorials teaching keyboard/piano techniques online preferably with videos? I know there are many great drummer and guitar tutorials out, online and on video, however, it seems there is less for the hopeful keyboardist. I've seen a few sites that have chord stuff. But I think I'm mainly looking for exercises to build up dexterity first and then delve into theory and stuff like that.

  3. I never said that I can't solder before my first Midibox project. I was employee of one mobile(phone) firm for 2 month 7 years ago.

There I learn solderig like repairman. But I never produce self boards. This I learned for 1 year.  :)

I must say they taught you well and you must be blessed with much patience! :)

Did you build tests for everything you are making?

  4. I found an explanation for that video. I don't know that this is exact or from the creator:

[tt]I made a "home made Drum" out of a guitar pickup and a string installed within a piece of sponge. I use Reaktor to translate the signal with its amplitube to snare drums. Each punch, with sound a snare drum (not the same snare all the time, it changes after every puch) and it has a the amplitude of the punch. It is very sensitive and there are some great stuff i can do with the reaktor , like setting the dynamic range.[/tt]

  5. I tried Suse 10 last year...as much as I wanted to embrace Linux, configuring it was theeee single most frustrating computer experience I've had. Just getting my monitor to work was a hell of a chore. Once I got it working I felt that being so used to windows and its idiosyncrasies I had taken a step back. It was a weird experience. :) Good luck though.

  6. Just one little more thing, a Core 2 Duo might be interesting with the 30% and up price cuts Intel just announced.

Thanks Dragon, I wish I would've had those recommendations when I built my first pc. :) When are those Intel cuts due to take place?

Would someone mind telling explain a the pros or cons of setting up hard drives in Raid configuration as it relates to audio?

  7. I tend to believe the worse thing you can do when concentrating on audio is bloat your system with other non-audio related junk, which is what I did with my system. But yeah, you guys have brought up a lot a interesting points. I should clarify, when I say cheap I don't mean off brand type stuff. I certainly wouldn't get an old used harddrive. But rather I look at it like this,  I'm sure there are many components (consider them overlooked) that you can now get pretty cheaply on ebay and newegg that'll give you a hell of a bang for your buck since everyone is getting the latest and greatest dual cores. And since single core chips have gone wayyyy down in price that single core system that was once considered awesome is incredibly affordable. I had a five year spread between pc purchases and when I started looking again I pretty much narrowed in on the 939 socket and I blinded myself to everything else. So, I'm wondering what Intel and AMD socket types to look out for?

Actually, I have a question about something DavidBanner brought concerning building a dual boot machine...something I'd never even considered. I don't know the first thing about this sort of thing but it does sound kinda sweet - 1 profile for audio, 1 for anything else you need! My current system is a dual core AMD 3800+ so is it possible for me to get a 2nd drive and do all my audio work there? What does configuring a setup like this call for?

Artesia, I saw that system a while back. Very cool stuff. There's also a system that allows you to network vst's that I've since lost the link to...I'll try to search for it.

  8. I'm thinking of building a second computer to use for solely for audio work. This was the plan with my current pc but my internet connection made it otherwise. :) I started downloading demos of this and that, and well you know how that goes. Soooo, I've been thinking of utilizing my old pc's case (compaq), I actually really like the case, and change out everything and build it up with a very stripped down version of XP. I'm thinking of some sort of P4 processor, I think those run under 90 bucks now, (I'm open to AMD cpu's as well) and a micro atx mobo to start, max out the ram, etc. And probably get a lot of this off Ebay. Any of you done anything like this? Suggestions?

As it stands now, the internet distracts me from concentrating on audio work. :P
