  1. "just make sure the pin config for plus and minus are the same, or if they aren't solder the original plug to the new WW's output cable."

Thank you.  Just so I'm clear, that little crop circle looking drawing on the label (beneath the Output details) explains the size of the portion that connects to the mixer? If this is the case I'm glad I posted as I just learned something I had no idea about!

  2. I don't know if you've ever heard of the LoFi loop junky that Zvex makes, but it's a pretty funky analogue sampler.

I made something pretty similar which uses a chip with longer record times if anyone's interested. (For the record, my design is in no way superior and should be more properly regarded as inspired by).

Yeah I had seen this before, http://www.zvex.com/junky.html That's not it, but that guy makes some cool stuff. I'm sure guys here would be interested in your design!

I'm really curious about the guys I mentioned. Their thing was pretty elaborate from what I recall.

  3. I recall a few years ago seeing a site with some pictures of some guys, possibly German or Russian, that had completed a DIY sampler. I believe it was 12bit, I vaguely recall the surface. I do think the site had either video or audio clips...I know that's pretty vague and that's pretty much all I remember about it. :P For some reason, I remember the URL being posted here. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

  4. Attila, the pc is Duron 750mhz, 364 ram, 30gb hd, cd-rom and cd-rw, i forget what the video card is, I believe 64mb something or other. I thought about building a Myth TV system. However, what I've read suggests that the processor may be a little weak if I want to pause live. I do really like the idea of the MP3 jukebox, and the softsynth with the 98lite...I had never considered that!

  5. You can start reading about the MB SEQ here: http://ucapps.de/midibox_seq.html

Then start reading through current threads, and search back through old threads, on a regular basis to familiarize yourself with all the "tech" talk. This is what I've been doing and, although, there are many things that still confuse me about the project i'm about to undertake (the MB 64), i'm more familiar with what I need to look out for. It's like moving to a new city and getting lost a few times. Soon enough you'll learn your way around but no doubt there'll be places you'll need guidance to get to.  :)

  6. I've been at M-Audio's site looking over their Trigger Finger pad controller, which after seeing I'm glad I didn't pick up the MPD 16, anyway I got to wondering...well what sort of innards do these type of controllers have in regards to what makes them work? I mean the MidiBox platform runs MIOS and all that good hardware that Thorsten has developed, so what is different about the platforms that brands like Behringer and Doepfer surface controllers use? Is there some type of MIOS type language that those manufacturer use? Or is it all proprietary type stuff they built from the ground up? After writing this I must say that I'm curious now to see the innards of different surface controllers. :)

I gotta say, for their Trigger Finger, M-Audio has put together one of the better product demos I've ever seen: http://m-audio.com/index.php?do=media.video&ID=a80b9e869c88944562e2d3a191c74b0f

  7. I'm really liking what you're doing here with this thread! Excellent documentation for us novices. I have a few questions...one which i know you'd probably get to eventually, but here it is.  About those switch boards you made, it looks like they'll be mounted vertically right? (i have a vestax mixer that has pots mounted like this)  I know it's possible to use a nut from the top of the panel to hold the pot and board in place if you've left the clearance to do this. Actually I can't tell from the pics if the pots have threads for nuts.  On the other hand how do you plan to fasten the board with the switches to the panel? For those I see no nuts which could hold them.

And about the Illuminated dial, That looks really cool. Is the plan to use it to scroll from bpm to bpm?

  8. Hola! No puedo encontrar el plano del MIDIbox 64, la lista de componentes y esas cosas...de hecho, no puedo encontrar nada que se refiera a los detalles de contruccion del hardware...sugerencias?

    Saludos

  9. I'm speaking from a dj mixer standpoint here, but the best way I found is to open the fader up and wipe out the build up manually with a soft cloth. I know some people will use tuner control spray (for example Caig Lube or Radio Shacks "Tuner Control spray"), but I find this attracts build up quicker. Although, if you have 12 or more faders then you probably don't want to be desoldering and soldering all those faders so the spray is the way to go. Whatever you do just be sure to lube it up so it glides smoother than new and it's' not a bad idea to lube the faders prior to first use when they're new. When it comes to lube, Caig will have you covered hehe... http://caig.com this is recommended http://store.caig.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.183/.f
