  1. I know this is not the best way to describe a topic like this, but I have found several instances of graphical corruption on my V3 seq (that never used to happen on V2 on the same hardware). Its always been when going from a menu page to another menu page, some of the text from a previous page will land up transposed one way or another "over" the actual menu page. Going into edit mode will clear the corruptions.

I have no method of reliable reproduction but I have seen it 5-6 times now and will try to replicate and document next time it happens.

Its not a really bad functional problem, just doesn't feel as nice as it could.

  2. Hi All,

Its on in the pic above where it is connected up to a different board (a normal single sid) for testing, same cable etc.

I have bridged pins 9 and 12 on the actual PLED itself and it had no effect. I will try to bridge them under the header on the board tonight, but I cant imagine how that would make a difference compared to jumpering them on the PLED. Im wondering if there might be a different problem lurking? I connected up the PLED using the LCD guide in the wiki as reference.

    Cheers

  3. Has anyone had any backlight problems with the PLED's? My screen works with the backlight when plugged into another older single SID I have set up, but when plugged into the 6582 board the text comes up, but the backlight does not work (doesnt look very red either). Im afraid to just swap the polarity as it works with the other SID.. Any thoughts?

  4. I have connected it using J25. Im having a bit of a problem in that the fan is very loud. I am thinking of adding a little speed control board with a resistor and a trim pot. Im thinking a 5W 100ohm resistor and a 10k trimpot inline with the positive signal. I have done a little test and it drops the noise by a huge amount (and you can tune the amount you can handle with the trim pot). The fan I am using is the fluro red ace 44w fan. I guess I could use the J3 connection, but I think I like the idea of setting the fan how I want it to run speed (noise) wise.

Incidentally, are people having this as an extraction fan or intake fan? Im running with extraction unless its not the best idea...

  5. If you did you might want to "transpose" them to other cc numbers so that they never happened at the same time else you will glitch your synths out (maybe desired??). Would be nice to be able to delay sysex too... Im thinking of a situation where Im using my Yamaha TX81Z (or any other FM synth needing sysex control) and to be able to delay the notes as an echo, but to send some to other channels (in performance mode with other voices happening) and then to finally delay some sysex to control the cutoff freq in a tempo sync manner. The possibilities are endless with this thing. Its quite simple as is, but im sure it could be dressed up a lot, especially with the developments in ram on the chips since its invention.....

  6. Maybe for you guys it might even be easier to recreate the app in C?

I think I would have a better chance of walking on water  ;)

I doubt that the seq has enough resources to build this into the same core...

What about on a seperate core(s)?

  7. Thats a nice panel layout, would also be good to include holes for 2 panel mount LED's for an LTC module so you can see the in/out as well as have a thru. I think it would be good to have a few (or 4)of these in one rack with some sort of routing if they were not in the SEQ itself (which would me more handy as maybe the mixer layouts could include some saved delay configs and it could run from the master clock and benifit from the divider settings in the seq?).

I have been finding that you can get interesting results having the input of the seq have the delay in it for recording from a master keyboard, then placing it over one of the IIC outputs afterwards to split out over some different channels with a different kind of delay. Having it realtime record the input with the delay can make for some interesting patterns. I wonder if it would fit into the sequencers firmware and agree with the concepts of the firmware if someone actually had the time to do the programming?

  8. Its pretty awesome to be able to use mostly midibox gear and be able to create music while driving classic drum machines, do some external gear filtering etc... Only had to use the pc for recording and a few little edits. Nearly meeting my goal of not having the computer involved at all! Anyone planning on making a midibox driven recording device one day? To SD cards or somthing?? I can dream  ;D

  9. Please don't distribute this, remix it or anything else like that. It is not public domain.

This is a jam I had with the Midibox SID synth using only 1 channel of the SID V1.7c. The notes and some of the CC data were generated by the Midibox Sequencer V3.2. The highpass and lowpass filters are using the SID also on other channels. This also shows use of the sync feature as the SID is synchronised with the TR-606 drum machine. After the recording some small reverse edits were made and a bit of EQ/Compression was added. Excuse the large amount of noise, the TR-606 makes a lot and so do the filter inputs its going into on the SID!
