  1. Thanks moebius. I've been building MB64, I have (2) cores, (4) dinx4, (1) ain and (4) dout now i changed my mind and want to use encoders instead of pots. Can MB64E be used in a multi core environment? So say 128 buttons and 64 encoders max. I'll take a look at the main.asm file. Thanks again for your help, You guys are always here when we need you!! 8) VILLADON
  2. Hello, Quick question on the 64e, I saw some diagrams on ucapps of the 64e with (4) dinx4 boards for a total of 64 encoders. can you split the 4 dinx4's to make 64 buttons and 32 encoders? thanks, villadon
  3. You guys are the best! Thanks for the info. I let you know when i get the resistor i need. later 8)
  4. Hello, When connecting the LED on my rocker switch, I soldered the + pin from the DC jack to one pin on the rocker switch then from the other pin on the switch i soldered to the + pin on the core and then soldered the - pin from the dc jack to the ground on the core. (switch works fine). there is a + and - pin for the LED on the switch also. So i figured id connect these also to the dc jack, but i think that is too much voltage for the led because it lights up an amber color and smells... It should light up green. So my question is do i need some kind of resistor from the dc jack to the + pin on the led?? Thanks guys. VILLADON
  5. Thanks raphael ! I wasn't sure if the leds in those buttons would give me problems with voltage. Villadon
  6. Hello, I have a couple vandal resistant push buttons that i'd like to use for my Traktor 3 midibox. Basically i'd be using them for the cue and cue/pause on 4 decks so a total of 8 of them. They are big, light up, good feeling and they were free! Can anyone tell me if they would be possible to use in a midibox configuration? my midibox64 will have the following: 2 cores 2 ain 4 din 1 dout Here's the link for the specs: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/625/1214.pdf part # 693-1241.6633.1122 part # 693-1241.6634.1121 Thank you in advance! Villadon
  7. Thanks Thorsten! I thought about that but since I didnt have an AIN module connected I didnt think it was still necessary. Jason.
  8. Hi all, I have uploaded mios 1.8 and MB64 syx files with success(I think) , when mios loads up I get the MIOS v1.8 start up screen, so far so good right? then next thing the LCD Displays is: [iNT] N followed by 8 Blocks Volume # {random numbers} it seems there are random midi events sent through midi out. I have only the Core,LCD, Midi in, Midi out, and one DIN connected. Is this normal? I tried to search the forum with no success , Thanks. Jason.
  9. I just powered up and my LCD backlight is on and there is no message on the LCD. I know i still have to upload mios and the MB64 app. but I just wondered if a blank screen is normal. Thanks again, Jason
  10. Hello All, I built 2 cores for my MB64 and did all the testing making sure i'm getting 5v where i am supposed to, everything is ok ;) I built a IDC ribbon cable for my backlit Char LCD and connected to the core with the bootstrap. I received 2 pics from smash, one with the bootstrap loader. One blank. both have different ID's ex. 0000000000000000....and.....0000000000000001 Now, when i power up the core with the bootstrap loader should i see any message on my display. like ''waiting'' or ''ready'' Thanks, Jason
  11. Thanks Raphael. I know I have a lot of questions but I'm very new to electronics ;D Please bare with me. Thanks again everybody, for helping! Jason
  12. Oh... and , Im using SmashTV's PCB Kit.
  13. Thanks! ;D I built the first core already, But before i build the 2nd core is there any modifications that will have to be done, or will i have to leave out parts on the 2nd core? I remember reading another thread where someone had to desolder some parts (Regulator? maybe - not sure) but that was a SID or a FM midibox setup not a MB64. Thanks guys Jason.
  14. Hi, Here is the Datasheets for the Adapter and the LCD I've already purchased. Adapter : http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/164155.pdf LCD : http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/2002a-color/CFAH2002ATMCJP.pdf Hope I can still use this adapter ??? I might add leds , I'm not sure yet. Thanks all, Jason
  15. Raphel, Thanks for your quick reply! :D I am going to order the 412-109104 right now. I'm going to look for a male connector also, that can be mounted to my box. Do you know if a certain type of wire is required to connect to the core? Thanks for all your help! Jason
  16. oh and yes it is a backlit display. :) Thanks! Jason
  17. Hi, Here is a link for one. Would this be ok? http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?&handler=data.listcategory&D=412-106084&terms=412-106084&Ntt=*412106084*&N=0&crc=true
  18. Hi Again, I wanted to purchase a Power Supply Today. Will a 9V 500ma wall plug be ok to power these? Midibox64 -------------- 1 Character LCD 2 Cores 1 AIN 3 DIN 25 Pots about 90 Buttons I was going to buy from either DigiKey or Mouser. Thanks, Jason
  19. Ok Guys I'm Done with my Core Module hope I did a good Job.  This is my first time soldering, I practiced on a Seperate PCB with some resistors First. Can you guys note anything I did Wrong? (Fingers Crossed) ??? Heres the pics. I know I did something wrong on the AIN Module I Placed the Sockets in the wrong direction, Can I just Place the chip in the other direction to fix this? Thanks again, Jason.
  20. Thanks Raphael, oops! Yeah I just wasnt paying attention, I just wanted a to take a quick pic.. I always check myself before I solder. ;D So I guess the socket that goes over the red Jumper will fit ok? Thanks Again, Jason
  21. Hi, I was a little unclear on which side to solder the bridges. It's Smash's Version Pic A or Pic B? Sorry for the big pics. A) OR B)
  22. Just wondering if this 20X4 Character LCD is ok for a Midibox64 Project. Model # CFAH2004A-YMC-JP http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/2004a-color/index.html#CFAH2004ATMIJP Thanks in Advance. Jason
  23. Thanks Marcel! I'm going to place the rest of my order tonight. I'd love to cut down on the buttons, But I'd rather cut down on using the mouse. ;D I had SmashTV program Pic with the bootloader and pic id header equal to sysex Device ID: 00 So having him program the next Pic with the bootloader and sysex Device ID: 01 would be ok? smash has 1 meter ribbon cables, to be safe how many would you order to wire this project. Just a ballpark figure. Thanks for your help! I'll be soldering away tonight! :D Jason
  24. Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and I have a couple questions. I am starting my midibox64 project and this is the setup i would like to accomplish. 25 Potentiometers 2 60mm Faders 1 100mm Fader and about 85 buttons.. From reading this forum I gather that I'll need.. 2 cores 1 ain 3 din 1 ltc I just received 1 core kit and 1 ain kit from SmashTV (Thanks!) to get started.. If I purchase the rest above will that be correct? Another question, Is it a difficult process to link two cores together, using 1 LCD, 1 midi in and 1 midi out? Thanks.
