  1. I T W O R K E D-!! THANKS FOR THE TIP- I WOULDNT WASTE MY TIME WITH THE AMTEL- TOO MUCH FRUSTRATION.... I WOULD ONLY RECOMMEND THE MICROCHIP... I WASTED TOO MUCH TIME AND RISKED DAMAGE BY CHECKING SOLDER JOINTS OVER AND OVER AND OVER - PHOTOS SOON. THANKS SO MUCH-- :)
  2. The Microchip Samples web site has received your Sample Order on 11/7/2006 at 10:38 AM United States Arizona Time. Your Order number is: XXXXXX. 3. THanks- I have ordered a sample from Microchip- Cross my fingers- Will see what happens-
  4. I just finished my Midisid: One SID with 6581 One Core One 16 x 2 LCD Control surface A with pushbutton rotary controller powered by optimized C64 PSU MIOS 1.9 SID 1.73 Up until i built the bankstick everything seemed to be functioning correctly- I built a single bankstick using a Amtel 24LC256-I/MS from Mouser, hooked it up and turned the MIDISID on, and it formatted the bankstick and made the customary slotmachine sounds counting up to Patch A 128- Once it is finished the Screen shows C019 Chn 3 1--- <No BankStick> I can go into the CFG menu and swith the bank to A (all the rest have an * after the bank letter), but once I turn the MidiSid off it formats the BankStick all over again. I checked the orientation of my wiring from the BankStick to J4 of the core and it appears to be correct- I checked the continuity from all 4 wires J4 to the Bankstick 8 pin DIL socket at it appears fine. When i go to upload the 128 preset patches, it appears to be accepting them but as soon it is done, it is empty. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks-
  5. Anyone in Seattle area interested in trading MIOS editing assistance for parts etc.. I have a completed MIDISID with a control surface A and just need assistance editing the code.... over me head.. PM me. Thanks-
  6. I would like to add filter control (res and cutoff) to control surface A- Does this require any changes to the MIOS? I have a completed CORE, SID, DIN, Bank Stick and working 2 x 16 LCD. I know nothing about programming... :(
  7. FYI- I took my Optimized PSU apart today, and carefully rebuilt it on a breadboard- It works fine, and is quiet- Hooray- Thank you for your help.... and your patience!!!!!!!! Now to carefully build it on a PCB-
  8. Thank you very much- sorry for not paying attention to the input voltage part- I think i will debug my optimized PSU first as you suggest-
  9. Thanks! Would love to the see the PCB layout- How are you powering this PSU?
  10. What are you using for power supply? Could you put up a close up photo of your power supply ?? Thanks-
  11. Question 1- Could i use these to power my SID and Core? http://www.circuitspecialists.com/prod.itml/icOid/2072 Question 2 If a can, would i use 2? Question 3 What type of transformer (wall wort) would be reuired to power them? Question 4 Could I use 1 wall wort to power both of them? Question 5 Would there be any reason these power supplies would create ground loop noise? I built the optimized PSU and it is noisy, granted i may have not constructed it correctly- I am looking for a power supply option that has pre-made circuit boards, so that it is not as messy, and hard to trouble shoot- Thanks for any replies!!
  12. I would like to build a power supply that does not use the old c64 PSU- If i am in the USA, what should i use to "power" this power supply? does this design run off the 115vac? or would it require modifications? Thanks!
  13. My power supply works- My Core works- loaded MIOS, and loaded SID OS with no problems. My SID makes sounds- (noisy though) My LCD is not happy- It came with an adjustable resister, do I need to use it? and how does it get wired in? When I hook the LCD up as it shows in the Schematic, it is just bright backlight with no characters.. This is the display that I am using- http://cgi.ebay.com/HD44780-New-16x2-LCD-Module-w-White-text-on-blue-PC-kit_W0QQitemZ7599019079QQcategoryZ26206QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks!
  14. You guys are the best!!!! It named it a .zip file, so i just renamed .jar and presto chango it worked - Thanks so much.
  15. I cant seem to get the MIOS STUDIO to run- Running Windows XP Pro- "Once Java is installed, all you will need to do is download MIOS Studio and save it to your computer. In Windows, you should be able to just double click on the .jar file to open the program I have the latest Java, and i have downloaded the program however i cant locate the .JAR file Thanks for any help-
