  1. I'm in for a baseboard kit and the control surface kit when you have time... as for professing my love... hmmm I'd like to see what you look like first  ;D  yeah I'm shallow.

    :)

    all kidding aside - [glow=red,2,300]thanks SmashTV![/glow]

Ooops... I'd take the preprogrammed PIC's too :)

  2. Good theories, but actually all wrong :)

I don't have the chips in hand currently, and I have decided with other things going on right now, this just isn't the best time for me to go out on a limb financially (Financial troubles on the horizon :( )

    Sorry for the tease.

Well can you offer us a link and reference to where you found them?

    Steve

  3. I  have read the entire thread, and caught up, enabling me to say, wholeheartedly, to put me down for 1 set of pannels, shipping to Toronto, Canada.!

Me too. I`ll need them and I don`t wanna make them ;)

    I`m in [shadow=red,left]e-town[/shadow] Canada

  4. Hi Doug... let me start by saying thanks for starting this.

I`ve got all the black switches, being in on this MB808 since day one... but I love the look of the colored switches.  I`ve mentioned on the MB808 forum that I`m interested in getting them but just want to say thanks here for all the work you`re doing to help out.

There`s no doubt in my mind Jeff`s project will kill... I only hope he`s not totally burnt out at the end of it.

Same goes to Jason - aka Wilba... the SID box I`ll build from his design will be something to cherish and [glow=blue,2,300]tweak [/glow]like a mutha!!!

    [tt]props gentlemen![/tt]

  5. Wilba,

I'm certain we all want to do this correctly.  You design looks fantastic and indeed there's a number of us eager to have this bleeping box on the desk in front of us and midied up to the rig.

I'll be happy to order the base PCB with the initial group order and will hold off on the control PCB until you have it all in order, and a corrected faceplate as well.

With regard to the PLED.  Have you found any on eBay recently?  I bought a 2x20 a while back when I was collecting bits for a midiboxSID project... but haven't got any hits recently.

  6. ok, final post for today....

    http://www.matrixorbital.ca/Members/Nick/pled

I've checked around, and everything leads to this information...

PLED technology will be discontinued all over the globe (don't ask why).

So I guess the question is.. can the PSU handle a backlit LCD in addition to the 8xSID configuration?

are there any other cool displays we can use instead?

If Wilba is going to change the layout etc. anyway, it might be an idea to find a replacement-display

so everything will fit nicely together...

    Any ideas/thoughts/comments?

    Lars

I'm no PLED guru... but does Crystalfontz's PLED fit the bill?  These are backlit as well.

Would any of these work and not leave a gab, keep the PSU happy, or not alter Wilba's most excellent layout?

By the way... I don't think the end of the OLED/PLED is near....  Soon they will be your TV

but like I said I'm no OLED/PLED guru

  7. <snip>

For all those people wanting CS PCBs... let me know what your plans are (i.e. what knobs, encoders and display you want to use)... I can confirm it's all going to fit ;D

I DO want to build one just like yours... I have collected 3 SID chips up to this point but like acidKomPlex... I've got older bits here... two 6581's and one 8580.... with your design I would gladly scour for more chips to have a fully stuffed SID beast.

Can your design allow for different SID chips or would it be best to keep them all the same?  I'm not a designer and will bow to your expertise in this area.

I guess pulling together a nice BOM from DigiKey Mouser and the like would be the next thing for us North American's to do.

    Cheers

    Steve
