Thanks for the fast response. I am so happy I chose Midibox as a platform. Its both fun to build and expandable. Whomper

As I move from MIDI to the realm of modular, I am looking at having my Seq3 device control the modular rig I am starting to compile. For this I would like to control notes and filter. AOUT_NG looks like the recommended course to take. Questions: 1. Will I be able to control pitch and filter? 2. Control 1 VCO pitch and 1 VCF cutoff will require 2 CV output, right? 3. Would I need to utilize the Gates as well? Thanks, Whomper

Well, after some extensive debugging it seems that as I overload my computer with virtual instruments, so does it "neglect" external devices to send proper midi clock in a timely manner :-( Whomper

Hi, When syncing Seq3 as slave to logic, I am getting sync drifts that could get to 16th note. The drift might start as early as during the first 16 measures. Anyone had any similar experience? Whomper

Thanks. I am now moving some of my arpeg patterns from software synth like BLUE into Seq and found this shortcoming. It would be great to see this as part of the standard feature set. Whomper

Is there a way that one is able to control the arpeg play sequence based on the order of notes pressed? Whomper

I have a pattern that I requested its tracks to be chained 1234 and the tracks are of length 32/32, meaning it should play tracks 1->2->3->4. all works well in pattern mode but in song mode it plays the first two measures using ALL tracks together and only then starts to play 1->2->3->4. Any clue? Whomper

Is there any way to select which scale fits a given pattern or song? I only found it on a global basis. I would like to use the forced scale so that when I am transposing a pattern, it correctly maintains the scale. is there a setting for a given pattern or song which scale to assign to it and when selecting force scale, it will correctly transpose? It would make the transpose feature more usable. Whomper

TK, My productions usually run above ~8 and this is where I am currently stuck as Seq3 will not slave anymore, thus I am unable to use it for work (only for under 8min compositions). It would be really helpfull if you could overcome this issue as otherwise I will need to sync starting from 7 min and wait till I reach the point I need to record at. It might be 10 min ahead :-(..... Whomper

Are there any plans to support bankstick backup via MIOS Studio? There is a placeholder for archive there with a "to do" text :-) Whomper

The song I am working on has a lot of measures and sequences. When syncing to Logic and kick starting Play near the end of the song, Seq3 will initiate playing but at the first pattern only: Song 1: A1x16, A2x16, A3x16, A4x15, A5x1, A6x16, A7x8, A8x8, B1x16, B2x8, B3x8, B4x16, B5x16, B6x8, B7x2, B8x16, C1x1, C2x16, C3x8, C4x16, C5x16, C6x16, C7x16. When playing from the position of C6x15, Seq3 correctly plays, but when playing from C6x16 (Pattern 258 in Logic), Seq3 plays A1. Moving forward, it looks like Seq3 is now starting to play from the beginning of the Song. If I leave the sequencer to play from pattern 257 (which is ok) and let it run, it will correctly play the rest of the song. it is just kick starting it from after pattern 258, that produces this issue. Yes, I had removed the last F) 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 from the sysex and it worked, i.e. Seq3 restarted itself. Aparently, the above message is being sent by Seq3 as the last message in the dump. I had checked this with MIOS Studio and at the end of the dump I am getting it. If I just store the dump as is and play it, it will not make Seq3 restart itself and ack the dump, only if I remove it manually from the dump and play it, it works. Another idea would be to have "Send Sysx" menu option initiate bankstick dumps as well as patterns. It would be so much easier from a manageability perspective as playing and recording the input on a mac requires some tricks... :-( Whomper

There is a nice feature to add which I saw on the KORG MS2000 and could be a real benefit for those working in slave mode. Currently, I need to switch a lot from slave to master when working part on Logic and part on Seq3. A nice addition could be automatic slave mode, in which when I press PLAY in Seq3 it will work as if no external source is driving it, and when it gets MIDI time info it will start in salve mode. In my view it might replace the current slave mode, or just a new flavor of it. Whomper

ok, I have gone up as 1sec delay between each message and the response looks a bit better (enclosed snapshot) but still seq3 does not reboot afterwards. I might have a defective means to store the file originally. If someone can send me a dump of a Seq3 bankstick #1 (important, or I'll erase my main work bankstick :-() just for testing purposes to see which end did I get wrong, receive or transmit, that would be appreciated. Thanks TK, I had added the change, compiled, uploaded and it works like a charm! In regards to whether to use CC or program change, I find program change to be ok for the seq songs as it is a global mode for Seq, however doing CC for pattern change might make more sense. If one could have set a midi channel for group, it would make sense to send program change on that channel to change pattern. I am not sure what the entity group represents in the internal user model of seq3 so perhaps there is little sense in doing that. Whomper

Thanks SmashTV for your ideas, aparently, I got a 74LS00 and not 74HC00, which made the difference. Bought two 74HC00 and now everything works as intended! I was not aware it required exactly the HC model. Whomper

Perhaps I am missing something here, but however I try I can not upload back the stored bankstick. I have backed up bankstick #0 to get a file of size 37896 bytes. Now, as I upload it to Seq3 (no special preparation, just dump the sysex) I get ack messages from Seq3 and at the end Seq3 is left in a non active state as though it did not come our of the bulk read and of course after restart the uploaded bankstick did not change the bankstick. I have attached a screen dump of the ack messages I am getting while uploading. Perhaps someone has some clue based on the ack messages what went wrong. Thanks, Whomper

As I am starting to use Seq3 more massively in my projects in slave mode to Logic 7, I will be in need to switch the current song in Seq3 in the beginning of a Logic arrangement. Is there a way to select the current song using a MIDI event, progam change, control change or similar? I could not find anything of use in the CC implementation doc. If not, it might be a nice addition to the midi implementation. Whomper

Thanks TK, Version 3.1 fixes my issue that was both pattern shift in slave mode and pattern shift when there where different divisions between the two patterns. Whomper

Hi TK, I have uploaded the new ROM and played a bit with it. Here's what I found: Pattern switching: Now a 32 step pattern when switched always starts at step 17. If I play Logic at least a measure before, when the times come and the pattern switches (from B2 to B4 which is the 32 steps pattern) it plays from step 17. When playing at the position of the switch, there is no issue and B4 plays from step 1. it does not matter if I had played the seq 1 or 2 measures before the swtich, or even 4. A new issue had now creeped, which is the switched pattern does not play in sync. it is delayed by a step or so, so perhaps it plays from step 16 and not 17. Copy: Seems to be ok. Multi bank sticks: As I am fond of Seq song logic, I will probably opt for 64K bankstick just for the Songs. As for pattern delete: Could not reproduce with a new song. Will try some more with my main one after I log my patterns to paper :-) Can you also have a look at the memory load/save issue I am having, logged in the troubleshooting section? Thanks, Whomper

BTW, a workaround could be the core does a volume 0 before it changes a program and then brings it back to whatever volume value it was before right after program change. Whomper

Or if you are using an external sequencer, like Logic, you can always program mute events.... Whomper

When changing a pattern in one of the groups per any given Pos, if the cursor is left on the pattern change (i.e. it blinks) and the Seq starts playing (Start button or slave seq), then the entire group is empties from start position till song end. Whomper

When changing a patch in SID, there is a loud click coming from the audio out. Is there any way to avoid it? Whomper

I have read the contents of the banksticks (8 in Seq3) as instructed, but when I play back, the Seq goes into idle reading a bankstick but does not return to its normal mode afterwards. When I reset it, it is as nothing had happened and all previous patterns are there. Any clue? Whomper
