Hi,
I've been looking for a similar knob for a crossfader.
These are 25p, far cheaper than anything you will find in a dj shop. Pennies rather than pounds.

cheers
That is good for now. I found it in Canada at http://canada.newark.com/ same part number.
0.35$ each! ;D
Thanks a lot!

It was the first time I used flux and desoldering wick after I got an hint from Seppoman - this made SMD soldering really fast (and secure) :)
This is an helpful video which shows the approach: http://www.ulrichradig.de/gfx/video/SMD_einloeten.wmv
Best Regards, Thorsten.
I really like this technique:
More expensive but it is so clean job.

I'm gonna use a video camera mounted on my microscope now ::)

The solder is having a hard time sticking to the surfare.
So...i pulled out a filing tool.... :)...and started filing on a leg.
How to solder

You are not using the 4x16 duo leds and buttons extension ?
Pretty cool for playing live!

Wait a minute.
I just discovered i haven't connected J6 on AIN1 module to J6 on core....but it seems to work.
what does port J6 really do here?
J6 on AIN:
These are the address pins of the multiplexers which allow the MIDIbox to select one of eigth inputs.

Added 8. Late... :-[
-
ok..
The only wires on the core are the LCD and power supply.
All other wires have been dissconnected.
Would the LCD show this eventhough software hasn't been fully uploaded?
<add-edit>
Of course, midi cables are still there too :)
All unused analog inputs must be clamped to ground

I'm selling this rackmount front panel with everything on it.
Make me an offer. The panel is (hi precision laser cutted) steel.
Lots of butttons, knobs and pots. ;D
-
how can I make electrical contact with the steel rod (and therefore the scratch wheel) if it's going to be rotating? Carbon brushes? Or just stick it through a bush and hope for the best?
Brass bushing works.
You can try this :
Slip Ring, cost around 75$ USD for 6 conductors.

When are the shipping begin ???

Here, have some pics

I'm in the process of updating the wiki page too.
The M-Audio Xponent wheel is almost like the one idea you've built. :-)
Good job so far!!

I had this one too. It's the worst thing I've ever seen.
This is a random google image link, but quality tools like this really exist. ;D
-
wilb', i got a question;
how you manage to cut that cable and with that precision?
seems like you already bought it pre-cut to the given length..
-
Soldering headers backwards was great discovery for me! I`m not sure from whom I stole that idea, but it is great. :)
I also use this method in my latest controller design, i don't know where the idea came, naturally i guess.
Sasa, this is a really nice work you did, very patient indeed! Post it on your Flickr photo stream!

Yes, i'm reading, i'm reading... i'm trying, i'm trying.
Going to look more into the other post. :-X
Thanks. (It's our first summer (like) day here in Canada, not my fault ::) )

Although it isn't standard, most software supports various "relative CC" event formats, and it's easy to implement this in C.
So, is anyone cozy enough with it ? i have no idea for now.
Thanks!

I need Chat!

Now, how to increase/decrease the values as the encoder rotates faster/slower ?
I'm still looking for this answer. ::)
