  1. Hey guya, in the last year i had built the midibox fm and since a few month i have been working at the new project. I finally finished a case (which unfortunatelly is too big), the wiring and the rest of the SID. Everything worked on the first run and i can tell everybody to build one. It's nearly easy, you get answer for nearly everything in the forum and when the sid chips are running (was the first issue i had) it is just a little step for a man left .... :) The other problem i had was based on the connectors i used. The 6.3" female connector has 6 pins and i didn't recognize, that 3 ones are not connected to the male jack when it's plugged in. Nevertheless ... here are some photos ... peace, m
  2. found my failure in the DIN Pinning of DinX R5, i'll solder it new thanx
  3. ps: IC3 is not stuffed and bridged because of the c64 regulated supply
  4. Good Morning guys, i started another midibox project a few days ago and have some problems. I read much in the Forum and thought my issue could be solved with the changes in 1.7 Hardware MOD becase some guys seemed to have the same problems. I have built the optimized Transformer for 8 SIDS (old c64 one), but i just have one SID Core. The Supplys is ok, i got 14 VC and 5VC with one ground. The Backlight isn't working but when i measure direct at the pins 15 or 16 there come around 5V. Also if those two pinns are been switched nothing happens with the Backlight. But the Disply works and i can configure the contrast. Mios has uploaded, bank stick is formated but just the buttons Select 1-4 are working. When i'm using the menu encoder or the button5 (at another DIN port) a Message SID2(, or SID3, SID4) not available, Can bus error. I thought the encoder tries to control a sid on another port. I also opdated the patching of the CORE-SID connection (SID/SC -> CORE J10/MD, CORE BAnkstik SC ->CORE J10 MD, and J10 SC unused and also did the V2 Patch (Display D0-D3 not connected, a small diode between D2/D3 and going to VD after a 1.1k resistor i also added a 2200uF Elko in the end of the power supply between core & SID I have no idea what the problem else can be, i checked all pinnings especiatelly between core and SID. Could it be that there is a small problem in using the minimal config with the 8xSID optimized powersupply? would be glad for every hint thanks, markus
  5. hi matthias ... no its not real an advantage kind of school .. .unfortunatelly :) i make my grade at the telekolleg multimedial ... it's a cooperation between the bavarian government and the bayrische rundfunk www.telekolleg.de they are a private school type and have there exams later, but there are no oral ones. i have to write the last exams in english, german, maths and technology till 5th of july when it's done i'll join the fh here in munich but i'm not quite sure which kind of bachelor to take ... i subscribed in mechatronik, elektronik, informatik, physikalische technik, regenerative technik, automatisierung und produktion. i'll have a closer look to this decision god save the kauderwelsch ;D regards, markus
  6. hey guys! thank you for the feedback and especiatelly the help i got from you when i had problems i couldn't solve on my own! I'm very glad that you like it! I've never built anything similar before and haven't also had any real soldering experience before. But i can tell everyone whos interested in building one of these ... it's not magic! if you make your readings carefully ... whatch the ucapps sites and forum most of the problems can be solved on your own! Of course it is not a one day action and takes some time but if you are real interested and making an efford to understand the pages EVERYBODY can do it! @nils: indeed i'll post some of the sounds or songs i'll do with my new baby! But i have to pass my exams for the abitur the next two month ... then i'll have a lot of time and will surely build more sounds with it as my neighbours want me o :DDD but if you want some music immediatelly you can load a mixed set from myself at www.minya.tv which i have done a few weeks before (sorry for commercial) hihi so when i will have spent enough time on using it and buillding sounds with it i have the next projects planned: all parts for a 4xSID one are already bought and wait for the right time when this is also done ... a complete modlar DIY Project is planed, but i'll do my school at first, then i'll make a lot of music and when all of that is done ... i'll start the next ones thank everybody again for your help, patience and support! Great Systems, great forum, great people especiatelly the developer... i'm lovin it :) peace 8) markus aka minya
  7. all four channels are working now ... with advise of pascal i checked all soldering pins nearly 10 times and conclueded to change the yac512 ... the last one i got had a broken pin at vdd, but fortunatelly the yac has another pin for it and so i could bridge it now everything works fine ... i guess i crashed the first yac because of soldering to hot
  8. a new day, new work :D :-\ fm is making his first noise .... testone works well after changing all tl 074s! channel 2-4 are working perfect but channel one is real quiet....i'm have to make the amplifier in the mixer much lounder for hearing it i guess the yacs and ymf are working fine! i got my audio signal, the connections between core audio out - connector and conntector - ground are well i'm not sure where the issue can be :o ??? :o
  9. good morning! so i passed a few more steps, the tl074s are arrived and i put them in the right direction this time :) the bank stick is also done, i have built it with 4x256 on board A0-A3 and the rs232 slot for ext. A4. The question of my last post is solved with this, it works i made my first mios experiences and the core seems to be living, i can upload mios aplications and so i did that yesterday. But unfortunatelly i have some problems with the opl board, i don't get a tone out of it. Neither with the testsound prog nor with the fm software i'm able to get anything out of it. The LED is flashing permanently and the power lines give the right inputs (+5v and +-12v). I visually checked the core-opl interconnections and found a failure RD5,RD6and RC5 were not right, but when i switched them nothing changed. Thorsten wrote in one threat he believes that can't burn the yac ore ymf, so i won't loose my faith in not killing those little cute ones! Also another YMF262 on the opl board doesn't solve the problem. After reading some posts in the forum i believe it has to be a problem with the yacs, the soldering points look good but maybe one of these two guys has gone to heaven. Could it also be a problem with the tl074s? when the first one was damaged after putting it wrong into the socket i just changed that one .... could it be that one of the others got also down when that happened? (when the first one got down. the led flashed in short periodes, now the led flashs permanently with the new one i changed) I'll try to make the interconnection test tonight, yesterday it was too late. When that doesn't help, i'll resolder the yacs on the board ... i hope they are not completely broken down, i haven't no others at home and wouldn't be happy to look for new ones. Maybe someone got another idea where the problem could be... so that was another day in the DIY diary of a midibox nooooob :D thanks and wish you nice weather (not as it's today in munich)
  10. yipey! so hopefully i can make my birthday present for saturday on my own :) just the bank sticks, the new tl074 and the wiring between din, dout has to be done. The frontplate will be brushed this week and when i get everything in the case, that should work *hehe* i also have to watch the fixing of the modules at the case. unfortunatelly the holes are not at the positions i need them. i thought about glue (i guess eseciatelly for the transformer thats no real good solution), a wooden plate where to screw all on (maybe it's also not the best possibility for the transformer if it gets warm) or another screwing solution with some fixing plates or line in the case where i can fix everything i guess screwing will be the best and safest solution ... i'll keep you up to date! 1.) a short question to the bank stick ... can i take 4x265 and connect them as in the scheme A0-A3 and take another one for the ext. bankstick with A4 or have all 8 Ports to be connected with sticks? 2.) another question about the leds: i haven't seen the fm working complete and i'm not quite sure what usage the hole matrix has got. Would you mind taking all leds in the same color or do you recommend to use special colour leds for some functions. At the moment i thought about - power led (right top) green or red - every matrix led green - the 4x1/2 select leds both green - the instr/op leds red peace, markus
  11. hey guya, backlight of display is burning now, i got the wrong pinning. tomorrow hopefully the new tl074 will arrive and i hope everything will be fine than and no more smoke will appear :o my first frotplate is also done, two holes a not perfect so i have to make them bigger, but display and most of the leds and buttons are suitable. the two holes of the matrix buttons are not very exact i have made a picture with display, leds, encoder, buttons in it
  12. a few days later, the psu problem is solved ... those damned 7912's made me buying a complete one. now the core, the display, the psu and the fm module are connected and the first "ready" message appears, backlight doesn't jet work, i'll check te connections again the first part of led and buttons are also ready but not jet connected. i believe i have cooked the op amplifier tl074 when i put it inside in the wrog direction first time (the led glowed shortly and periodical). when i switched it the fm modul led glowed permanently and everything seemed fine. i tried to upload the mios fm testsongs and a lot of smoke can out after a short time. the tl074cn has a little black dirt on one of the middle pins i think the wrong direction action killed him. after reconnecting to power the led glow periodical again. when i took it out of the socket, the led glowed permantly and the display began to show mios start prg and gave the midi start commandso i guess it's gone, i ordered some new ones :D here is a short clip of my works of today ;D attention, 10 mb for a short clip http://www.jenshansky.de/minya/data/fm.avi markus
  13. can the elko caps be too big with 2200uF for double transformer version and 4400 uF for single transformer version
  14. looking from top the upper one is the 7812 the lower 7912 sry for bad quality of the picture 8) ::) :P
  15. hehe it's me again :D 10x 7912 and a few hours later i have built the circuit with two transformers and a rectifier after it .... the problem is still the same the 7912 gives me -17-18V maybe reichelt and hartnagel electronics haven't sold the best ones +12v does work as in the first ones i'll check the hole circuit in the next few days and hope it'll be just human missunderstanding but for today i 'ts enough :o ::) 8)
