  1. absolutely amazing wiring wilba. Mine doesnt look so pretty :(. What you going to do, anyhow, i think I'm going to rewire either way, not to happy with what I have going on, considering I just broke two more wires today.
  2. I was just wondering if I can use a single strand 22gauge wire for connecting the posts to the CS pcb and the PCB on the 6582. Everytime I go in to make modifications I keep breaking the wires, so is there are any negative results when using a thicker signle strand style wire. thanks.
  3. yes , show off pics are coming after I install the feed back pots which should be happening later this week
  4. adjusted pots for lcd and all is good. I had to replace a few wires that connect CS PCB and main PCB. Installing and stripping those wires has been my most difficult task. Right now I have the MIDI BOX connect to a MFB-step64, just running sequences. Theres a few things I need to go in and figure out after just playing around and tweeking knobs. I'm noticing my lfo rate seems to not be right, not a huge variation in speed and also the release on envelope, doesnt seem to carry long tone lengths. Hey, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone has helped with my posts and thanks to all you guys that have created this for the community to enjoy building. If they would have required building electronics like this in school, my career and life would be completely different. I wish had a little more knowledge of the electronic parts used, but I think I will figure some things out as I play around and get into the mios. this project has been sick, thanks again, wilba, avi show tech, tk, fussy everyone
  5. I'm going to try this out when I get home from work today. I think some of my front panel led's arent working, but cant really be sure until I see the function. Also maybe some of the encoders are slow to rspond, but once again I cant really tell until I see values change on LCD. But after doing a couple tweeaks this machine is going to be sick.
  6. yes I do have a back light. lets see if I can post a pic mb.JPG mb.JPG
  7. holy smokes, I'm making noise, ohh shit I cant believe it. but still no LCD.
  8. wait, turned midibox off and on and now #0 PIC is loading
  9. OK, Loaded app into PIC, 1, 2, 3 but 0 is not accepting
  10. so I dont know what happened but I went to upload sid app into PIC 1 and it load bloacks and all check sums reported OK. Is this a good thing? Now do I need to repeat for the remaining PIC's
  11. the ones I got from smash have mios v1.9. so I went to load sid app. If I choose wait for upload request, nothing happens. If I choose manual mode, blocks are sent. also, what does this mean... F0 00 00 7E 40 01 01 F7, recieved when I did the loop back test
  12. Well I have a few questions. I am building a midibox 6582. Everything is put to geteher, all joints good. I have just connected wires from PCB to CS PCB. I expected to see some LED's light but nothing. Also I have download mios studio and V2 mios to computer for uploading. I have connected my LCD with proper wiring Well, I'm at a lost. I have read the documentation and I am just at a lost as to how to upload mios, not sure what I am doing, wrong or right. I am using a USB to midi cable from Mididbox to computer. Everything is just seeming really foreign at this point. If anyone can help....awesome
  13. after reading many posts about feed back pots on the site I placed an order from this guy on ebay who sells pots for a living amongst other things. Got 100k ones
  14. thanks wilba, mis read, took bridges off, everything is OK. My next phase is installing lcd, ribbon wire and place an order for dual gang pots. Love this thing, its been great.
  15. yes the power is turning on the MB-6582 regardless if in the on or offf position. Any ideas? I am using power option A I have solder bridges on S1 at 1&2 and 3-4
  16. So I just wrapped up constructing my CS PCB and then decided to instill LED power light on main PCB. I plugged in the power supply to make sure it lit and all is good except for one thing, the power stays on. I toggle the power switch and power stays on, light stays lit. Having a difficult time figuring out where I went wrong. Where did I go wrong? Thanks. BTW...this project is turning out great.
  17. gotcha, thats propbably it....I have no ics in yet.
  18. So I have just performed the suggested voltage test in the 6582 pcb contruction guide. all voltage is correct. I have a question though, which is due to my ignorance in electronics. The question is: I noticed regardless if the power switch is in the on or off position, voltage reads the same on all check points. should volatge read zero if power switch is turned off or not. thanks for for help forum,
  19. yeah its long, I'm glad theres no commercials.
  20. Video is really informative. Furman is doinf a great service. thanks for the link.
  21. hey thanks. I saw that post in the 6582 documents, but I still wanted to question it just in case. you know. Well. I'm almost done with my pcb. almost time to test.
  22. question: what usually causes voltage spikes?
  23. Hello, I am building a 6582 MBsid with PSU option 1. I have recieved (2) 2200uf16v in smash tv kit but schematics call for 2200uf25v. Is it ok to use the 16v. And if anyone can direct me towards a link or web page that better explains these parts, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help
  24. SO after some amazing tech support from Scott over at Paia via email, the problem was fixed and I have a working fatman and it sounds good. I'm quite impressed in the quality of thick analog sound it produces. Well, what was wrong. I put the wrong power supply on I had a 12VDC instead of 12VAC. After that simple fix this afternoon. The machine couldnt wait to sing. Awesome. its alive.JPG its alive.JPG
