Hmm, very interesting. Shame I am uk based so I couldnt use it but it would be interesting to know how well these work as I am sure there are a lot of americans who would like a decent replacement
couldn't you get a converter?
i use a euro to us convertor for some of my euro gear.

Moonk: Could you A-B it with an orignal PSU, when you´ve completed your MB6582? I´ve still some in stock, if you are ever close to Munich :)
I´d be very interested, if these (inexpensive) switchers are really audible, or if they are of such high switching frequency nowadays, that there won´t be any audible noise...
Greets!
Peter
hey peter!
i will definitely A/B test it. However, i burnt about 3 pads on one of the pcb's. but i found a kit where you can actually replace the burnt pad with a new one. http://www.circuitspecialists.com/pcbrepairkit.html
I'm currnetly building 3 shruthi1-s so all of my money went into sourcing chips etc, so i will go back to the mb6582 soon as i get paid :)

hey fellas, there's a ebay seller offering custom psu's for c64, i bought one, but won't have a chance to test for some time. but thought i'd share.

hey there moonk, can you confirm your SIDs from sidcollector are 100% working in your synth? he has some at the moment for a good price...
thanks.
hi, sorry i haven't been able to test them because i burnt two pads so it's on hold.
i spoke with him on many occassions and he sounds sincere if that's worth any value.

Hi,
In this case you need to read some more about Power supply option D.
In this power supply schematic for the MB6582 then not more necessary -12volt supply rail : IC2 ( 7912 ) and the some another components connected with it.
Regards,
Janis
thanks Janis,
I still need to know what exactly do i connect what is stated in the consturction guide vs the link i provided. the pcb eagle file shows no 2 pin, 3 pin headers.

Hi guys,
i found a link where someone already had designed a pcb for a power supply
http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=northernlightx&s
this is great, however i'm stuck wondering how does this connect/work with the mb6582? am i still using the DIN plug to hook the powersupply? or do i use one of those 2/3 pin power connectors and somehow connect those to my mb6582?
scratching my head.
thanks!

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that I am currently designing a PSU PCB based on an improved version of Retro Donalds design. I hope you are aware that Retro Donalds design should be improved in some respects. I have already ordered some more parts and will soon start building the PSU. If you are interested I will publish my work...

i'm getting frustrated every time i see reichelt.. grrr :)
is there a model name for this? Us people in the u.s. can't get anything delivered from that store(well at least for me)
i bought a crimp tool, but the crimp dies are useless.
thanks.

Hi,
Does anybody know if "basicwayne" is a trusted SID chip vendor?
I have no way of testing the chips yet, so I'd really have to trust him on that!
Thanks
hi there, i buy from sidcollector on ebay
he's super nice and super fast!

i'm finally letting this one go, space is becoming an issue. never left my bedroom. comes with usb cord. I might have the cd laying around.
asking $200 shipping not included will be determined. i live in u.s. so shipping will be a pretty penny if you live abroad.
condition is excellent.
paypal please

i'm selling my midibox sammichSID b/c i need to eat! the price is $250.
the lcd backlight doesn't work (can be easily replaced with one of your choice) but the voltage is there. i currently have the jumper set to 5v. also, my ex had started to paint it and i'm not sure what she was thinking. only the "power" label on the back is painted in white, and there's a faint white smear of paint around the label that can be seen in the right light. if you plan on painting this, it'll disappear no problem. pm me if you want to buy. thanks!
btw a 12v psu (switchable voltage) is included. also, shipping is whatever actual cost to wherever you are. you can choose whether or not you want it tracked. i'm in USA.

ahoy! sorry for the late reply, i've been swamppped with work.
I am totally intersted, but tim let me know that i was on the list for the next batch, which should be this month and i already have one. I feel that i'd be cheating myself if i have two pre built ones =(
thanks though your offer is really honest and nice. i'm really surprised no1 snagged this up... i noticed another one for sale but he's asking for more.
hope i didnt waste your time bro...

When "A" refers to "acquisition", which "only" costs money,
"B" refers to something that costs time and money :-)
ahh
seems i have both :)
-
Heheh, G.A.S. is better than G.B.S :-)
what's GBS ?
-
never even heard of this.. but i checked out the site and looks like they're still selling kits.. so i'm gonna wait it out until their new main pcb board is updated.
until then. gas away. :)
-
@moonk: Have you got DIY G.A.S  ?
lol.. yes i do!
-
Very cool! a bit pricey but hey, one less thing to worry about when soldering.
details:
you can set your pcb board(s) on this thing and not have to worry about bending your leads.. you set it and forget it!
my nerdiness just jumped up 10pts.
