widdly Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Can you piggyback the PIC chips in a Midibox? I want to build an Midibox FM with an AOUT module that can be switched to operate as MidiboxCV.The idea is that two PIC chips are mounted on top of each other and the power supply leg of each PIC chip is not soldered to the PCB but connected to a front panel switch so that only one PIC is connected to the PS at once.Like what they have done here....http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/500W/DualBoot_piggyback.htmI'm thinking that the bankstick might need to be switched as well.Would this work? stryd_one Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Why not just upload the necessary app as required? It only takes a few seconds, probably faster than powering it off, switching PICs, and powering up again... Quote
nILS Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 That's possible, yes.Why not just upload the necessary app as required? It only takes a few seconds, probably faster than powering it off, switching PICs, and powering up again...Maybe because that won't work without a PC? Besides, turning the box off (which might even not be necessary), flipping a switch is definitely faster than uploading the app ;-) Quote
widdly Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 I was thinking if you used an ON/ON/ON toggle switch for the power then power off would be in the center, Up would be MB FM and Down would be MB CV. Much faster than reprogramming and ensures that the power goes down before the PIC's are switched.I'm still in the planning stages but I'll post up if I get it working. Quote
nILS Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Wouldn't an ON/OFF/ON switch be more intuitive? ;-) Quote
