scratch.music
I searched and checked the pic burning tutorial but couldn't find any specific instructions. I haven't used the MPLAB software suite before. I imported the hex file and uploaded it to the chip but I must have missed something. When I start up MIOS studio I don't get the Sysex messages, I get some sort of message that repeats, I will post the specific message tomorrow.I checked the voltages on the pic and the midi connections, I really think it's the pic burning thats the problem. Thanks for any help,
nILS
That sounds like you've got the bootstraploader on your pic.Would be really nice if you could give us some more detailled info since troubleshooting into the blue is kinda hard.* What PIC are you using?* Where did you buy it / did it come with installed bootstraploader?* What hex file did you upload?* Waht application are you trying to install?* What version of MIOSStudio are you using?Basically all the information you need should be here:http://miosstudio.midibox.org/http://ucapps.de/mios_bootstrap_newbies.htmlhttp://ucapps.de/mios_bootstrap_experts.html...and all throughout the forum

scratch.music
Sorry I didn't provide enough info. The main problem is that I don't know how to use the MPLAB ICD 2 to burn the bootstraploader. I have the 18F452 Pic and it came blank. I got it from my Universities' electronics lab therefore it did not come with a bootstraploader. I attempted to load the bootstraploader hex file from mios_update_v1_9f.zip using the MPLAB ICD 2 by selecting "Import" - choosing the hex file and then hitting upload. I received "succeeded" messages with no errors but it appears that there where some problems after connecting the unit to Midi ports on computer and opening MIOSStudio.I am using MIOSStudio_beta7_5 downloaded from the forum post. The hex file I tried to load to pic is the bootstraploader from: mios_update_v1_9f.zipI am trying to install MIOS on the Core module using MIOSStudio but am not getting the Sysex messages when I connect my pic. There are periodic messages that display but they are definately not Sysex, I can post the exact message when I get to the lab in a few hours. Thanks,

scratch.music
BTW. The same scenario was recreated on 2 separate machines using 2 different midi interfaces. Both lead to the "Channel 1: Pitch Bend value: 0" message repeating. Nothing else is connected to the core module at the time although I do have an LCD and an Analog In module ready. stryd_one
Yeh the bootloader didn't burn right. I know nothing of the ICD2, but... have you got in in HVP mode? LVP mode is a common problem with nonstandard burners... Personally my recommendation is to buy a JDM from smash and use that. Much faster and easier ;)
