Ultra minimal unit?

Hi guys,

Well I'm still lurking here keeping an eye on what is going on! A quick question though, I want to build a very compact unit without LCD etc which can take in 8x 5v triggers and turn them into midi notes. I have looked at the older midibox hardware and it seems possible to run the unit without a screen. Can someone just confirm this for me?

Also is it feasible to build the MB16 and progrma it from Serge's editor and therefore not even have to hook up an LCD at all?

I know it would be nice to have an LCD but I am saving this for my MBHP construction. For the time being I just need this simple unit and therefore its good to know I dont need another dsiplay.
