basta73
Has anyone found long (80-100mm) easy gliding faders to use as crossfaders? 10k, linear, dual-pot would be ideal. I see a lot of projects have horizontal faders, but I'm wondering if anyone found faders that have that right feel?
pay_c
ALPS Faders are certainly ideal for all audio apps. Theyre the most easy to move faders I came along up to now.Theyre also available as dual-pots, also I´m wondering why you would need that for an MBHP/MIOS App? basta73
In theory, I guess you wouldn't, but as I understand it, on faders (as opposed to pots) the dual pot works in opposite directions. Emulating the crossfader in a DJ mixer. A----[llll]-----Bmoving the slider left brings up channel A, while dropping channel B. and Vice Versa. This may be based on a fantasy, but it seems to make sense, doesn't it?
pay_c
Yes, it is, and if you build an *analogue* mixer, you really do need that. Many high quality mixers (Omnitronic for example) in fact do use ALPS dual faders. But if you build this thing for digital (MIDI) apps (e.g. Traktor Mixer) only normal pots are needed, the mixing is done digitally. basta73
In the firmware, or the software?
Guest Xcen
Software that is controlled via MIDI input (If I understand your question correctly)
Guest Flownezz
You would program the "Firmware"(MIOS App) to route the fader's position to a midi event suitible for your software to interpret.
