MB-6582 Hang on startup if MIDI interface not turned on

This is a weird one, but seems reproducible:

With MIDI I/O connected to my MIDISport 2x2, my MB-6582 seems to hang on startup if the interface is switched to 'MIDI Thru' mode. Is this expected behaviour?

Maybe there's some kind of MIDI feedback loop going on that crashed MIOS on startup. Anyone noticed this before, or is it maybe a quirk of my particular board?
