smashtv Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 sony mdr series are really good !!!!!!i have one at my job ....I'll second that on the Sony's, after comparing them to EVERY other brand of headphone, that's all we use at the production company in every application. Some of the headphones we tested were $1500 US!Have fun!Smash Quote
gillesdeshays Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 we also made test with Beyer(DT48 and new other ones), Seinnheiser(HD-25, HD new series, sony(MDR 600: mine and 2 other MDR series, audiotone (new series "Surround") ....And the Sony MDR was so best ....Precision , large bandwith, present and precise bass, transparent treble ...It was comparaison test with classical music . stryd_one Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 I find Sony gear to have a pretty heavily coloured sound... Not bad for monitoring levels and as a foldback or whatever but I wouldn't wanna mix anything on them!Anyway I'm on Senn HD25 bins and I love them... Yeh they cost more than anything else on the market but theyre accurate as heck! Quote
smashtv Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 I find Sony gear to have a pretty heavily coloured sound... I agree completely with you on this, but you really should take a listen to these Sony cans if you get the opportunity. Other than a couple of high end Sony video cameras and video monitors a few pairs of these phones are the only things that carry the Sony name in AVI's (my production company) arsenal of toys. They don't mask shrill highs and the response in the low end is way more true than any of the Sennheiser cans I have used. The low end sounds like what you hear out of a good pair of Tannoy nearfield speaks. These cans don't have the usual "my first microphone" Sony consumer feel or sound. ;)Have fun!Smash Quote
Steven_C Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 I have a small behringer desk too, and I have used many professional desks, and I have to say that I am amazed with the sound quality (though not build quality :'() especially the eq's!also, go off the sound when buying H/P, not price tag or salesperson's hype, though you need experienced ears to tell if they will be ok for recording or mixing. (I heard some excellent akg DJ h/p the other day for $299 Australian) though I bought nice sony (old style) for $5 at a garage sale! just needed new lead! ;D...steve Quote
