Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I stumble across the MIDIbox site and my jaw dropped. I have been wanting to do this stuff for years and didn't know where to start. My question is for if any of you are in the US and if you have a parts supplier you would recomend.

I am not very familiar with electronics, but have replace potometors, switches , and such. I want to start out with the SID, I  love their sound and have envied my friends SIDstation for the past few years. Thanks

Allen

Welcome sboot!

Mouser electronics and Digikey have the largest selection of in stock parts, but there are many other suppliers.  Check out http://www.mouser.com and http://www.digikey.com.

The new PCB layouts on my site (soon to be here on TK's site also) have orderlists for Mouser that are linked to Mouser's site, so getting what you need is easy.  See http://mbhp.coinoptech.com in the info section for that.

Have fun!

thanks Smash TV!

I had found your link for your boards a little earlier and I will definitely have to get some. Right now I am hunting SIDs, which could take a few weeks. I figure also alot of people I know may have C64s sitting around in their garages , so I am going to ask around for those. I may hit the thrift stores as well. Has anyone made one of these with a built in controller? I am sure there is a way to but an old casio keyboard in one, I really have no idea how to go about it. Not that I really need one, I have plenty of midi synths to use, I thought it might be cool though.
