ssp Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 i have been reading some of the posts from days gone by on here and i read up on the diy 808 drum machine made a while ago.as im now getting back into my electronics and really enjoying it very much i am doing a things to make list.basically as i progress in dexterity and skills again i plan to progress in skill levels of kit building, the main reason is that as im building im re-learning all the things i struggle to remember now.i found on the net a drum machine made by trevor oakley however i tried emailing him but it bounced back to me.so what do i want to build?? well an 808 and a 909 drum machine basically, now i could just go and buy a drumstation or buy an original 808 or 909 however theres nothing to be gained from that for me, and i certainly wont enjoy the fact i didnt make them.so are there any pcb schematics for an 808 and a 909 available anywhere with full parts lists?, i have to do a big order from smash shortly for the next kits i plan on making and while i do that order i can get the next lists done for the drum machines.i really have to say an immense thank you to nILS, one of the most patient and understanding people i have ever spoken to online, and when i cant see things clearly he helps me to find the thing that makes it clear for me without helping me too much.being a stroke sufferer makes doing certain things really hard, yet sitting down and focusing on these kits is doing me the world of good and i am really really enjoying things for the first time in a while also.it was an amazing feeling when i got the midimon working for the first time (even though i had the wrong psu plugged in and nils pointed it out to me) seeing the midi events on the lcd made it all worthwhile.so im hoping you can understand why i want to build more things as time goes by!once again thanks guys for this site and the kits, any suggestions for the drum machines is great.heres my build list:lc/mackie control surface with 16 fadersmb sid <---- seriously looking forward to this one, im hoping that i may be able to do one like wilbas kits.mb sequencerand then the midibox fm synth.after those then some drum machines. ssp Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 ok having good look at the info sheets this evening, am i right in assuming i can make an 808 using these modules stated here http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_808.htmlif i cannot get an 808pcb kit form the guys who make them, if so then i can order this lot off smash tv with my next order all at the same time that will save me time and maoney on different deliveries.1 x MBHP_CORE, stuffed with PIC18F4620 2 x MBHP_DINX4 (only 6 74HC165 shift registers used) 2 x MBHP_DOUTX4 (7 74HC595 shift registers used) 1 rotary encoder (for tempo, could also be used for additonal purposes in future) 33 buttons 35 LEDs (33 could be integrated into buttons, 2 additional LEDs to display selected layer and record mode)and the optional hardware as stated in the info pageThorsten, if you get to read this thread can you please give me some more info on how this drum machine would work using the modules rather than the pbc board built for the kit please.i would really love to build a 909 could this be done using the modules or is it going to be a totally different beast? to be honest i would be happy with just the kick, clap, hi hats.im hoping to place my order with smash at some point next week, so any advice i can get before then will be appreciated. thank you.update: i also found this site which also has the hex files for the rom sounds on it also so i have more info now also.
