Guest KJH
HiFinished my SID, thankfully worked first time ;DHowever, im concerned by the amount of heat that the voltage regulator on the Core Module gives off. After about 10 mins use, it becomes almost too hot to touch. My experience of voltage regulators is that whilst they certainly get very warm, they dont radiate this much heat.Ive strapped a heatsink to it, which improves things but there's not much room for a substantial heatsink. What is everyone else's like? Im using a 12v 500mA Supply.KJH
ilmenator
Hi KJH,you may try using a different PSU with lower output voltage, like 9Volts. If that's not an option you could place another regulator in row, like 7809 --> 7805. But there is not really much space on the core board, so you might use a separate vector board with all the components of the power regulating part of the core.Thinking about it again, it might actually be far more elegant plain using a different PSU... :-/Regards, ilmenator
