IC questions

Hi guys,

Ive had a root around the components in my electronics deparment and managed to find some IC's for use in the AIN and DIN board. Would it be OK to replace, the CD 4051 BE multiplexer in the AIN board with a cd 4051 BCN? As regards to the DIN board, could I replace the 74HC165 shift register with DM74LS165N? Links to the data sheets are below:

DM74LS165N

74HC165

CD4051BCN

CD4051BE

I can see some difference in operating voltages, but without knowing what voltages are used in the boards, I cant see whether theyll work? Also if anyone can see of any other reason why using these chips won't work, give me a shout.

Kind Regards,

Harry

Use the HC165, do not use the LS version

The 4051's might be OK, but why not use the specified part?

They're quite cheap and you can get kits from Mike or Smash.

Digital ciruits generally run at +5V.

The core board has a +5V regulator (7805) which is used to supply the other circuit boards when connected.
