Eveready9v Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 So this is weird, my sammichSID works fine, minus the fact that one of my SIDS are bad, but as far as mono is concerned it works like a charm, except for 2 LEDs. Looking at the unit the left side LEDs lowest octave,# 2 and 3 won't light up. Took it apart, soldered the LEDs again, checked their polarity, and nothing. They don't flicker during startup, they don't light up when I hit that octave, nothing, any suggestions?
m00dawg Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Have you tried simply replacing the LEDs? Or seeing if you get any signs of life using multimeter?
Eveready9v Posted March 23, 2011 Author Report Posted March 23, 2011 Yeah whats weird is if I short them they light up, so it's not bad LEDs, I'm just wondering what else would be routing power to them.
m00dawg Posted March 23, 2011 Report Posted March 23, 2011 Might want to check for cut tracks, just in case. It does seem odd that they are the only ones. Could indicate a bad pin on one of the ICs but I would have expected to see more bad LEDs if so. Still, might not hurt to try swapping them out. Unfortunately, I forget which ICs relate to the LEDs on teh Sammich :) Perhaps someone can chime in here? I'm at work so I can't easily look at my own synth at the moment.
Eveready9v Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 Yeah it ended up being a cut track, although visually I can't see any cut traces, but after doing a continuity test, that's what it was! Thanks Barry
