Hi all

Having a blast with my MB6582 btw.. Im a long term SID user, coming from another bespoke SID hardware platform. So far, Im very glad I decided to give the MB a go over my beloved existing SID synth (don’t want to name it.. )

Question: I cant work out how to turn oscillators on/off.. I have found the "3Of" param in the Filter menu but, this only turns of osc 3 (obviously). My current SID synth allows you to turn all 3 oscillators on/off – I think it describes this as a "test mode" but effectively, it turns them off.. Is this possible on the MB??

PS: is this the correct place for user questions? Being in the "Construction" forum, I feel like I maybe posting in the wrong place??

Thanks,

Paul

Question: I cant work out how to turn oscillators on/off..

Actually, I think I might have it: each oscillator has the WaveForm "Off".

I still have a patch that is making noise depite having all the oscillators set to Off so I need to dig a little deeper to fully understand what is happening, but this is likely just to be some modulator that Im not aware of..

Hi,

yes, "waveform off" will do the trick.

The background sound could be related to the leakage issue of the SID chip. The envelope amplifiers don't completely close if the envelopes reach 0, it's related to an analog design flaw.

Especially 6581 is affected, it has been partly (but not completely) solved for 8580 (and 6582)

Best Regards, Thorsten.
