NaturalGeek
Hi all, i'am about to create patch editors for several vintage Synthesizers and Effect Units ( primary the KORG DW-8000, Oberheim Matrix 1000 The Boehm Dynamic 12/24 and the Dynacord DRP-20 Reverb) This is my first Midibox Project, i will just put all configs, faceplates (schaefferag) and additionally used parts into this thread to make it available for the masses Additionally i want to thank all the people who made the midibox project possible. This is an absolutely awesome project and i'am very happy to have the possibility to use such great soft- and hardware for free. Thank You! The rock solid enclosure should have the size of the params table on the DW-8000 to place it on top of the synth. jojjelito
If you want to build something compact you can always use some standard 9mm 10k or 100k linear pots. Those don't eat up too much PCB area. On the other hand, encoders can pick up what the original value of a chosen patch was and go on from there. You might want to use pot takeover to mitigate such effects with pots.
NaturalGeek
Thank you jojjelito, since i'am currently working on a first test (its just a simple 24 knob midi controller) i'am on evaluating pots. i will now order 10k alpha pots which feels very nice. for the test controller, i will order some moogish knobs, for the patch editor they should be a bit more thin. As for the pot takeover, i will have a look for that later, i will first of all finish the case and the hardware for the second device (since i already used all PCB for the simple midi controller (which is actually my first midibox not the programmer) however. i've now done a front panel for the PG-8000 too. it fits to the hammond case 1441-18. and this case fits more or less exactly on top oft the DW-8000! i've added the front panel to my main post! ilmenator
If you want to make this interesting for others to build I would strongly recommend to keep the documentation in the forum and not on some external servers with just links. Over the years we've seen numerous projects that were lost simply because of offsite documentation --> offsite docu bad!
NaturalGeek
as soon as everything is final, i will put the stuff into the forum, however my domains/servers are running since 12 years and there is no content which has been removed since the start ;) so, no worry
