tago Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 Can i use cheap carbon film resistors for NG boards (CoreSTM32, AINSER, DIO Matrix ...)? It says carbon film resistors are more noisy and i don't know if they add noise to a Midibox system. Should i use 0,6 1% metal resistors instead of 1/4W 5% carbon film ones? Quote
tago Posted December 2, 2016 Author Report Posted December 2, 2016 I ordered my resistors at Reichelt and used the uCApps orderlists. The orderlists part# results in carbon film resistors, but i see blue (metal?) resistors on the soldering guide photos. Quote
latigid on Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 No problem with carbon, especially when they're pull ups/current limiting. Maybe an issue for analogue or where Tc becomes important. But even in AINSER, your pots will be carbon film. Metal used to be much more $$, now they can even work out cheaper. Quote
tago Posted December 2, 2016 Author Report Posted December 2, 2016 Thanks @latigid on AINSER is my main concern, i thought it could add up noise. Quote
latigid on Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 For AINSER64 you have the choice of a regulated power supply, then the only resistors in circuit are to current limit the LEDs. Notice the filter caps on the ADC Vref . Quote
