XT control extenders now cheaper (good for parts?)

I saw the control XT advertised in a UK magazine for 399. I wonder how that compares to buying the parts to build an LC? (I forget how much mine cost to build)

I wonder how hard it would be to hack it, to make the software think that it is a full LC, and just add a jogwheel and a bunch of buttons.

Would the LCD be a custom chipset?

By using an external MIDI translator it's possibly easy to turn this device into a full LC, and the translator could also handle with the additional buttons and the jog wheel. But the costs... hm....

My funny attitude to costs is because it is so hard to get parts in my location.
