intosite Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Am new to electronics, am trained in design.Like to check for the resistors, if they are for 0.5V are they alright? Also the rectifier, there are no specs to it in the parts list. When i went down to my local radioshack, they had a whole bunch of them. Which should i get?I only managed to get the PIC 16887 so are there stuff which i should be aware of?Sorry if this has been posted before. Tried to search but had nothing.Cheers :) Quote
pay_c Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Resistors:I think you meant 0,5 W not 0,5 V. Already 0,25 W are absolutely enough for all MB stuff. There isn´t much power draining stuff there (the highest are the LEDs with appr. 0,02 A * 5V = 0,1W and the backlight of the LCD - which is run over potentiometers).Recitifer: It *is* stated: Needed recitifer: B40C800 (little round one - you can see it on the Core-Pic). 40 means 40V max and 800 means 800 mA max.PIC:Get your first PICs (the 18F ones!! the 16F ones are nearly outdated) directly at microchips site. http://www.microchip.com/1010/index.htmThere go under sample Microchip. The rest should be clear. This way you get the first 3 18Fs for free! For details about sampling search the forum (again ;) )Greetz & a big welcome to UCApps family!! ;D Quote
arumblack Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 you can also get some banksticks free from microchip. it is 24lc256. when ordering, make sure to get the DIP package versions(theese are the ones that fit into sockets). good luck! Quote
intosite Posted January 16, 2004 Author Report Posted January 16, 2004 That's great, damn just placed my $15 SG on a 16F....there are quite a few diff 18Fs, which one do i go for? 452 -??Edited - Just checked, is it the PIC18F452-I/P 40 PDIP 600mil  ?Edited -Whao! Just placed my orders, can't wait for it to come. Shall start to build the JDM, Core, AIN and DIN modules. Am from Singapore, Asia, how long does it take to deliver usually?Oh before i start i can't seem to figure this out. I have a sound card with midi, but its through the joystick port,25pins, how do i connect to that? Also can i just plug it in and programm the PIC or i still need the JDM?CheersYou guys are great! :) Quote
arumblack Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 you will need the jdm to program the mios bootstrap loader, or find someone who can do it for you(that's what i did, couldn't get my jdm working). you may not find anyone near you so maybe you should build the jdm. as for how long to get to you, i believe my parts were shipped from hong kong(or somewhere in asia) it took almost 2 weeks, i would guess it would be much quicker for you.as for the joystick midi port there are special adaptor cables for that or you can build one, i think there is a schematic in the forum somewhwere try a search.oh, and after the mios bootstrap loader is burned to the pic, applications can be uploaded via sysex. this is cool because you can try out different apps easily if you only have one core.(say you want to try the mb 64 seq before you decide to build a seperate core for it)good luck! pay_c Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 (say you want to try the mb 64 seq before you decide to build a seperate core for it)good luck!Edit by me: " ... try the mb 64 seq before you will absolutely certainly - because it´s hell of fun to build and play it - deside to build ... ... " ;D ;) :D Quote
Guest Ryan Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Hi intosite! samples IC's for other MB modules are also available at www.ti.com, www.maxim-ic.com, and www.onsemi.com. lucky you! i'm in the philippines and microchip.com doesn't ship here... the samples will take around 3-4 days to arrive from the shipping date. maybe... just maybe... u wana send me some of those samples?:) just wondering thou hehegood luck!
