Sorry, but i lost you. What is pd?

Hi, Just tried it out. It seems pretty simple... But i don't really understand MAX out. I've tried reading up but need some help here. airmailed do you know MAX? Now i got info coming in from my midibox, the Pitch, Velocity and Channel. There are all numbers in speperate 'boxes' I need MAX to print out a line, 'broadcast pitch velocity channel' But i don't seem to be able to get them to join together. I know in flash i would do is var=var1+var2+var3+var4; But still have yet to visualise how it works in MAX. So anyone with MAX experience pls help. Cheers

Hi, I've got similar problems, i think... I started my midibox about 2 years ago... I was using the Core, DIN, AIN & LTC(for com port connection). I stopped on this project for more than a year and totally forgotten everything. I knew that my core module was working and could conenct to my com and send signals to the my applications. Recently i took it out and wanted to work on something new, but it seems that it isn't working. When running MidiOx i only see the first 8bytes of SYSEX when i turn the midibox on. After that there was no response from my buttons. Now i can't really seem to find the right track to continue. Could someone kindly help out? Thanks :)

Sorry i forgot to mention that my midibox is hooked up via the LTC module to the serial port of my com. Am using the Yamaha drivers to recognise the midibox as a midi device....

Hi, I don't really know where to place this question, so please feel free to put this the question into the appropriate thread. I'm a graphic designer and planning to do some stuff with real world intereactions with my com and have visual feedback. And the only thing i know software side is macromedia flash (i know this isn't the best software, but its the only one i know a bit of programming). So i've don't some reading and found out that the only way flash can connect to the 'outside' world is through its XML socket. I came across a prog made by someone that helps connect flash to the serial port. http://people.interaction-ivrea.it/h.barragan/flashserialinterface.html Now i'm trying to figure is if does the midibox signals get captured by it? And what kind of signals it captures. I like to work with the midibox as i think its a very well supported platform thanks to you guys, its very scalable and finally i got a actual working one in my hands (was trying to build a midi controller for Resolume, but kinda gave up) I know the midibox sends midi signals through the serial port and the Keys/notes are configurable by editing a file which you then compile onto the PIC chip. I'm wondering is it possible to easily set it to sent out other signals through the serial port which i then program my flash side to recognise them? Would love all the help i can get. Cheers :) *added Just hooked up my midibox after a year of not touching it... MidiOX shows its working when i power it up with this "SYSX: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 " But my buttons is not responding. (i forgot if i need to do something else) sorry.... Also the prog i using to interface to flash says this "The microcontroller serial port settings should be 19200 Bauds, N, 8, 1." And when i tested the prog, nothing happens when i put the power on. Shouldn't the flash be showing the "F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7" if its working? Does this mean its not? Cheers

If not mistaken you still can use log faders. You just won't be able to have fader in the center when 50% Most audio equipments seem to be using log faders. I also have a few and quite some time back i had a thread asking if there is a way to make them linear... Answer was there is, but its quite troublesome and worth more your while getting new ones. Hi, I've an idea to do some fasding LEDs to form the rainbow spectum. I came across a diagram that shows how to do it.http://www.bit-tech.net/article/92/ Now i would like is to be able to use the com to control the fading, eg stopping at a certain color, through the midibox.. Anyone has any idea or experience in this?

Hi, My project requires only 6 analog multiplexers. I've got the AINX boards from SmashTV which are based on the MBHP_AINX4_V2 module design. As i have only need for 44 pots/faders, only 6 4051 meltiplexers is needed to plug in to the sockets right? Am wondering how do i ground the rest of the 2 unused sockets. Do i need to clamp every one of the extra j3 and j4? BTW what's a LFO for and what does it do as talked about at http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_ext.html. Regards

Just wondering, I'm using a full alum case, do i need to be worrying about sheilding and noise? Cheers

I'm also a beginner in this and electronics. I find the www.ucapps.de site quite sufficent in providing steps to construction a midibox. For me as i got no idea how to read the schematics and stuff, i got premade PCBs from SmashTv. Then just plug everything in and solder. Only thing i made myself was the DINX n AINX and they are much simpler. But i have a ready made one beside to take reference from. Also if you ain't sure of anything, just try finding info from the forum here or just ask. Ppl here are really helpful. Thanks to all for your help. Thanks for the encouragement, but i'm quite sure its a single unit. As that's what i ordered from farnell, don't think they are that nice to give me duals. Also testing the other half of the terminals with a multimeter, it was always an open curcuit. Its really ok. i think that the log could be better in my use. Prob is i have half log (i bought from farnell 11pieces) other half linear ( 7 pieces samples i got from a supplier). Cheers :)

Opps, was too happy that i found the right kinda of paint that i forgot to look at the price. Man that's really expensive.That's bout a $100 bucks in my currency. Anyway i don't think they have that locally, so will look for something similar. Good thing is they alsways have cheaper alternatives, only drawback is bad labeling with little product discription. Ok, Thanks. I think i give up. My sliding potentiometer have 4 pins on one end and 2 on the other... I give up figuring which is which as i think half of the 4 pins isn't connected to anything(dummy) and one of the other two also is a dummy. Of the 3 that is working, the readings i get off my multimeter, are pos-log , neg log and the full resistance. I think i can live with one of the log readings, not sure its the pos or neg ones though. My travel of the slider is 60mm. Max resistance is 10K. So when the travel is at 45mm resistance is at 5k. 60mm-10k. Think that's ok for my application as its suppose to be controlling the opacity of a image layer, which should be increase gradualy. Thanks anyway. Will do a trial to see if its ok. If not think i'll be back at this thing. Cheers :)

I tried to look for that, but can't seem to find any in my country. So i'm using acrylic epoxy spray paint which is commonly found in my country. That's the process the screen is made. Coating the screen with a 'greenish' chemical. Then laying a positive trans over it and exposing it to a strong UV spot light for 40secs, or normal sunlight on a sunny day for 2days. Then wash the chemical off the screen. Viola, the screen. Well i guess my controller will the lugged around quite alot and will be subjected to heavy use. The silk screen will be printed on the the spray paint coat i'm doing with acrylic epoxy spray paint. I've only done silk screen printing on t-shirts and paper. But both using a paint type i'm told as tc-mani, kinda of latex paint so it doesn't crack when you stretch your shirt. Still i don't know what kind of paint to use. I thought of it too. But am first afraid the ink might start to fade after a month or so or even faster when expose to high uv sources. Also the issue of the borders around the cut out area. Thanks for all your response. Hi, I just got myself a batch of sliding potentiometers and they are log not lin types. They are ALPS 60mm slide potentiometers. The lever when half way measures 7.5k Have 3 questions in mind. 1. When connected to the AIN, when the resistance is 0, does it recognise as a key down velocity at 0 or when the resistance is at 10k at 255? 2. If the keydown velocity is 0 at 0ohm, is there anyway to reverse it? Meaning when 0ohm it registers a velocity of 255? 3. Is there a way to make the potentiometer a lin? Cheers

Thanks for the help, But once i hook up the bts to the AIN, how do i set it up on the MIOS so they trigger the note on/off? Am using the : Test Applications ain64_din128_dout128_v1_3.zip - MIOS configured for 64 pots, 128 buttons, 128 LEDs from the mios download page. Also am using 6 multiplexers. What changes must i do to the MIOS? Cheers :)

I've got access to some silk screening facilities and its kinda free as i know the technician there. Thing is i'm wondering if its applicable as they are mainly used for printing on cloth to make t-shirts and stuff. Also what kinda of paint should i use? I can't seem to find any lazertran or similar diy decal locally. Am in singapore and getting online isn't that cheap as the postage is a killer too. I'm making a controller for a video app. The layout, trying to keep this to one core module.

Yeah, i'm planning to do something like that. White panel and with red labels. Anyone know any other way to put text and labels up with out using decals. After some sanding, thought of using silk screen to put up the details and then a clear coat spray to finish it. But not sure what type of paint to use for the silk screen so that the clear coat won't damage it. The only paint i've got is tc, used for t-shirts(do my own tees).. Finally started cutting my own panel... man is it slow..3 hours and i've got only 5 badly 6cm x 1.5cm cut holes... But seeing the holes is a real satisfaction... Added 19 06 04 Finally after 10hrs, starting to take shape. Gots lots of areas to touch up with the putty to even things up. Cheers :)

Just wondering. My panel is sprayed white with the usual arosol spray paint. Am planning to put on some decals like lazertran. Then do a clear coat finish. Am wondering will the baking in the oven do any damage to the spray paint coat? Cheers

Hi, I've heard about MAX/MSP, but don't really get what it does. Been to the site and surf around, it seems like a music software. Does it mean i can use it to map the Midi event to keyboard presses? Cheers :)

Nice idea. I don't know anything about programming. But that sounds totally possible but with lots of serious programming involved. If anyone does have the time to do it, do keep us posted. Cheers :)
