ladybug Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 it is more of a gadget then a necessarity....do you think a "remote-midi" can be realized ?instead of this bulky cables runnig all around your studio you'll have another module connecting to your core which will be transmitting midi-data to a reciever unit at the other side of your studio !possible ?
DriftZ Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 something like this ?http://www.kentonuk.com/products/midistream.shtml
ladybug Posted February 18, 2004 Author Report Posted February 18, 2004 well..... :-/ :-/ :-/......yesbut no !thats the idea but £400 ??? NO WAY !!i thought of something much simpler, like i said before - maybe another pcb (transmitter) that could go inside of every simple MidiBoxno £400 !!!!
DriftZ Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Time to go study some RF stuff then ;)Seems more ppl like your idea:http://xmidi.com/bluetooth.htmlAlso, M-audio (midiman) once has been busy with a bluetooth wireless midi-interface.http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM01/Content/Midiman/PR/Bluetooth-MIDI.htmlI don't think they ever put it into production (why not ??)best, Driftz
gillesdeshays Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 evenif it's in French , take a look to : http://www.interface-z.com/produits/com05_hf.htmtry to "babelfish" it .....http://babelfish.altavista.com/
ladybug Posted February 19, 2004 Author Report Posted February 19, 2004 i TOTALLY agree with "http://xmidi.com/bluetooth.html"i had enough with cables-messing-around !the future is wireless !! this Bluetooth seems an excellent solution !look at this (reciever?) : http://www.bluetooth.com/products/prods.details.asp?CPID=840&CAT=16
nerd Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 I actually looked at doing something like this for a while. Using pic chips and bluetooth is a great combination. Here are some links that would be helpful on this.http://zuff.info/Bluetooth.htmlthis one is designed for basicstamp.. but could probably be used for pic chips http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=30068and here are some blue http://www.blueradios.com/here is a primer on how to use them.. http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorial/BlueTooth/bluetooth_primer.htmand a place to buy them http://www.sparkfun.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cart=358488&cat=62&When I have more time, I plan on getting one of these and trying to make it work with midi. I just have no time right now.
TK. Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 M-Audio offered a MIDI<->Bluetooth bridge some time ago, but it's not available anymore, propably because of the bottleneck problem. MIDI provides no handshake protocol - means: if a data package cannot be sent on time, it will be lost - for a musican thats a fatal scenario (think about hanging notes, incomplete sysex, etc).
