it is more of a gadget then a necessarity....

do you think a "remote-midi" can be realized ?

instead of this bulky cables runnig all around your studio you'll have another module connecting to your core which will be transmitting midi-data to a reciever unit at the other side of your studio !

possible ?

Time to go study some RF stuff then  ;)

Seems more ppl like your idea:

Also, M-audio (midiman) once has been busy with a bluetooth wireless midi-interface.

I don't think they ever put it into production (why not ??)

I actually looked at doing something like this for a while.  Using pic chips and bluetooth is a great combination.

Here are some links that would be helpful on this.

http://zuff.info/Bluetooth.html

this one is designed for basicstamp.. but could probably be used for pic chips http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=30068

and here are some blue http://www.blueradios.com/

here is a primer on how to use them.. http://www.sparkfun.com/tutorial/BlueTooth/bluetooth_primer.htm

and a place to buy them

http://www.sparkfun.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cart=358488&cat=62&

When I have more time, I plan on getting one of these and trying to make it work with midi.  I just have no time right now.

M-Audio offered a MIDI<->Bluetooth bridge some time ago, but it's not available anymore, propably because of the bottleneck problem. MIDI provides no handshake protocol - means: if a data package cannot be sent on time, it will be lost - for a musican thats a fatal scenario (think about hanging notes, incomplete sysex, etc).
