Guest pk Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 hi just found this place!! excellent resource!!I use digital performer on the mac..all i want to do is make a controller surface that has 16 or 32 control faders that can possibly be extended. ???transport control ( i am thinking of using the contour shuttle pro for this)/ time and beats per min counter, and lcd's that display the current plugin and change to what ever the turn of the pot does.. etc.. and i want to incorporate the aux pots and pans, aux buttons and mutes.. etc..so basically a very standard controller.what i want to know is, in the scheme of things is this a basic set up to build and also what i would need chip, core etc wise to buy from here apart from the other items..if any of you guys have time to talk about this it would be great. Also as for designing front layouts for panels, i have been doing this for years so if anyont wants help on layouts i can help ;)i also know a good laser/plasma panel cutting company that i get good discounts from.I also make and restore loads of wood panels for analogue synths.I also custom build studio furniture that looks exactly like the argosy studio furniture, so if you need advice or a custom build.. let me know ;) Quote
TK. Posted May 29, 2004 Report Posted May 29, 2004 all i want to do is make a controller surface that has 16 or 32 control faders that can possibly be extended. ???transport control ( i am thinking of using the contour shuttle pro for this)/ time and beats per min counter, and lcd's that display the current plugin and change to what ever the turn of the pot does.. etc.. and i want to incorporate the aux pots and pans, aux buttons and mutes.. etc..so basically a very standard controller.thats just a downstripped MIDIbox64. Connection diagrams and a list of modules can be found at the MBHP introduction page. But it will be difficult to display the current plug in and parameters on screen if your host software (digital performer) doesn't send the information via MIDI. Something like this is normaly only supported for Logic/Mackie Control. Does your software support this protocol?Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
Guest pk Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 thanks for the reply, well the mackie control is available for digital performer...but to be honest the plugin stuff isnt important now..all i want is something i can control my faders and pans , mute buttons, record, automation on/off buttons with.so im looking at a unit that does the following..a: fader control automationb: pan controlc: mute on/offd: record on offe: automation on/offf: aux controli also would like to be able to expand the unit say upto a max of 32 modules each with 8 faders and they link to the master unit, tha same way the mackie/logic control does, but i want to connect this with a set of internal cabels or i will put interlocking d type connectors on the opposite sides of the units that join the modules together and then make the internal connections. I am designing the front pannels and such now , as soon as i have finished i will forward a concept drawing to you. let me know what you tink.thanks for your help..i also want to have a transport capability, i am thinking of putting the contour pro shuttle in the unit.. goyousalukis Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 32 modules each with 8 faders Do I understand this correctly - 256 faders? Thats a big job! Do you want motorfaders? If so, I would recommend you start small with an 8 channel midiBox and go from there. Have you checked out: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_lc.htmlyet? Also for a supplier have you looked at: http://avi.dezines.com/mbhp/ SmashTV runs it and has complete kits available. If you are in the states it is a great deal.Good LuckJustin Quote
Guest pk Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 no.. he he i dont mean all those channels... ;Di want to make 32 channels of mix control for digital performer and pro tools.i might just buy a doepfer regelwork but i would like to change the faders for motorised faders and put in a beats-bars-minutes counter .hey this may be over my head, it may not be, but im pretty good with electronics as long as i have all the info i need..
