I would like to house my MIDIbox SID in a case built from Lexan or Plexiglas. Is this a problem due to missing electromagnetic shielding?

I built mine into a plastic housing (not Plexiglass but some similar Polymer). The frontplate is aluminium. I tried it without any shielding and the noise was a little higher than TK stated (it was about -60 dB noise to signal ratio). So I shielded it with alu on paper (the same stuff as found in the C64s) and it got a little better (-65 dB snr). I don´t know if a complete alu housing would make that much better, but I guess so.

I have to say that alu is in every case the best stuff for housing & frontplates (I tried plastic and wood also). But you can make one side of your housing with plexiglass, that´s cool, too (check out my MBSeq - the housing and frontplate is out of alu, but the downside of the housing is made of plexiglass).

Greetz!  :D
