differences between schematic and pcb

hey guys. I started the midibox plus almost 2 years ago and am just now REALLY trying to finish it. My question is...

I bought the PCB from mike's site. I see it matches up to this gif - http://www.ucapps.de/midibox/mplus_pcb_v1.gif

If I follow this exactly, even though it it is somewhat different than the old schematic, will it all work??

ALSO, there are two boxes on there that I have no clue what they are. towards the bottom of the gif, right above the connection to the lcd screen...they seem to connect to three points and on the photo they look like two black boxes. what are these?

THANKS!

I think with the "old" schematic you mean the 8 pot version.

Mikes PCB is the 16 pot version and here you can find  the "new" schematic (which works for sure ;) ):

This are 2 10kOhm Trim-pots (variable resistors) for adjustment of brightness and contrast of the LCD.
