Rowan Posted December 9, 2004 Report Posted December 9, 2004 Hi,I tried to upload some pix to the portal last night, but I can't seem to create a album in the build section of the gallery to put my pix in. I loged in on the portal, when I am in the top level of the build album I go to the little drop-down menu but "Add Album" doesn't apper.Any Ideas what I'm doing wrong, (I'm using OS X.3.6 and Safari and I have a the java stuff installed on my machine)I may try my PC to, I'm trying to keep that machine of the net though, so if I can avoid using it I like toRegardsRowan Quote
smashtv Posted December 10, 2004 Report Posted December 10, 2004 Hi Rowan!Sorry about the issues it is giving you.I had no idea it was giving this problem.I did find an album you created there, it was set as hidden, had no photos. Did it give you issues trying to upload also, or did it never show you the album you created?I did change settings that effect all of this, so it works for me now (using a regular user login) but I know that's not proof.... ;)Please try again on the mac, as a mac user myself it's important to me to -not- have yet another site that is problematic on a mac but ok on a PC. It's a pain to test on multiple platforms for anyone building a page, and we would be fine if the Wintendoâ„¢ boys had not skewed (or completely ignored) the standards that were in place when developing IE (Internet Exploderâ„¢).For those with form/display issues on some sites with safari, You might try mozilla, it really is the hot rod of the current crop of browsers. I thought safari was great until I ran mozilla.....If it does not work fine for you this time please let me know, It's important to me to know this is working. ;DBest!Smash Quote
Rowan Posted December 11, 2004 Author Report Posted December 11, 2004 Hi TimThanks for your reply. Good point about trying a different browser, I've got Firefox and IE on my powerbook so i'll give that a shot. I did create that hidden album, but I relized I had made it on the top level of the album and not the "build" sub-album. I could work out how to delete. If you can delete it go a head. I'de like to put my album in the "build" album. What happens when I tried to add photos, the java applet loads, I can drag'n'drop photos into the applet. I click upload photos them the applet does its thing and every thing seems to go well, them at the end I get an error message saying "user can not add to album".Let me give some other browers a shot and i'll report back on how it went. Thanks againRegardsRowan Quote
Rowan Posted December 11, 2004 Author Report Posted December 11, 2004 OK, here's is the story.I tried IE and the applet wouldn't load so I used the form and that worked, but I still could not create my own album? I haven't tried Firefox yet I'll give that a shot too. Sorry in advance if I make a mess on the portal, just want to get this working correctly.Maybe my java install is not right? I thought OSX had all that java jazz installed by defult?Off to try firefox now.........................................I still can not create a sub-album in the "build" album, I must be doing something wrong. Well, I managed to get two photos on portal, I just cann't create my own album in the "build" album. It's strange because a can create an album on the top level of the gallery, I just made another one, which I cann't delete now?RegardsRowan Quote
smashtv Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Sorry in advance if I make a mess on the portal, just want to get this working correctly. No worries, thanks for helping me get this working.....Maybe my java install is not right? I thought OSX had all that java jazz installed by defult? The java applet worked when I first tested it many moons ago with 10.2.8, I'll check it again and lose just the java app if it does not work well with the default OSX install.I still can not create a sub-album in the "build" album, I must be doing something wrong. I just tinkered with the settings a bit more, and the permissions for creating a sub album in the build section were wrong. I also changed the settings for the main gallery to only allow new galleries to be created in the build section.Your difficulty with this is my fault, I did not have the setup correct. I thought I did, but I have learned I need to be more carefull with testing in the future......My apologies! Please let me know if it does not play friendly now, I'll sweep up a bit and hopefully it will work as it should for you!Smash Quote
Rowan Posted December 11, 2004 Author Report Posted December 11, 2004 Hi Smash,Thanks for the fix, it's working fine apart from the Java applet. I could make an album and add photos. I used firefox and I havn't tried safari yet, I'll give it a go soon. That really cool you sorted that problem so quickly, thank.RegardsRowan Quote
smashtv Posted December 11, 2004 Report Posted December 11, 2004 Very cool that it's working (aside from the java upload), and nice work on the box!Inline tags on from here on the forum also work to the gallery, but not to/from external sites:is just[img=http://www.avishowtech.com/albums/Rowan/Inside_full1lowres.jpg]Best!Smash Quote
