I was trying to fix a broken output jack on my korg dw-8000 and during the removal of the old jack, one of the pads lifted from the pcb. How can i safely remove the solder mask so i can solder to the trace ( the jack is not working without the pad...)?

Anyone know an answer?

one thing i have done with broken traces /broken pcbs

scrape some of the coating off of the still attached existing trace  and solder a small wire to the trace then solder the wire to desired connection

restablishing the original design

just be carefull not to solder anything togehter

also tin(presolder ) the trace before attaching the wire this will make ading the wire in much easier

Can I just scrape it off ? I would fear that would damage the trace underneath, and I'd be no better off than before.

Just scrape it off yes! use a small flathead type screwdriver and just go gently if your concerned (you'll be fine tho ;p) once you see the original copper colour u know ur there!

good luck!
