nILS Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 On TKs MidiBox SID he/you use/s a 20x2 display with 5 buttons underneath it. When using a 40x2 I'd want 10 buttons under the display, I assume. Is that right? Oh, another thing - would I need another DIN board or anything special in that case? Thanks in advance,nILS Quote
Jurbo Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Yes, you are right - 40 x 2 lcd accomodates 10 menu items on screen at a time, so 10 buttons under the lcd.If you use one DINX4 board, you get 32 inputs, so if you are building a one SID machine with the minimal control unit (only added with the larger lcd), you will be using up 13 of the 32 available inputs (10 menu item buttons, the back button and 2 inputs for the encoder).Cheers, Jurbo Quote
nILS Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 I'm building the Step C one ;D Will my 3 DINXs do, or do I need another one? Hope not. Guess not.nILS Quote
Jurbo Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Don't have time to check right now, but on the main site there is a default wiring schematic for the DINX4 modules of a MBSID Step C.If I remember correctly, there are a lot of unused pins on the third DINX4 module to accomodate your 5 extra buttons.BTW, I'm also in the process of building a Step C. Six months so far, less to go, I'm sure! :) Quote
nILS Posted February 11, 2005 Author Report Posted February 11, 2005 You're right. I just checked the pdf and it says there are 27 pins left. Just in case someone else is wondering and for some reason didn't find it - like me ;)nILS Quote
