What Next

I have put  together  two core’s and checked the voltage and every thing looks good

I have the bootstrap loader on them (They came as kits)

They are both hooked up to Backlit LCD’s when I power up I get solid black bars

On one row of the LCD and there back light will not come on.

I am pretty sure every thing  is put together right.

I tried to download sysex files to the cores one at a time but I seam to not have a connection. (Using Serges software )

I am OK with MIDI and MIDI dumps so I do not think that is the problem.

I understand it can be a number of things that are wrong but

Any idea where to start

Backlight needs seperate power. Look for two additional contacts on the LCD (marked with + and - ...sometimes on the opposite side of the data connection).

Do you receive messages on the MIDI IN from the Bootstrap Loader? There should be a message every 2 secconds.
