ma9 Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 hi, i've built a midibox sid with a 6581 chip on it, minimal configuration... the interconnection test works well and the software installation works well too, but i still don't hear any sound. At least.. i hear a low buzz, which changes a bit if i cange the used patch with jsynthlib.. does anyone know were the problem can be? :\ I have installed first of all the bootloader, then mios and then the sid application (sid6581 without cs).yesterday i changed the orientation of the quartz because before it was placed in the wrong way... may it be broken now?in "standby" my current voltage values on the 6581 are: more or less 4,6V on Cap1A, Cap1B, Cap2A, Cap2B0,03V Clk11,83V Vdd5,30V audio out pin4,65V audio in5,00V vcc0,10V on potx and potymore or less 0V or 5V on the logical pinsthe "real" audio out is at 0 volts
ma9 Posted May 5, 2005 Author Report Posted May 5, 2005 can anyone make a test on his pins?how much should be the voltage on the quartz when checked in DC? 0?Is it righ that C1 and C2 are 4,6 v? it seems strange to me
TK. Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Hi,are you really using a quartz/crystal, or an oscillator?I haven't the voltages in my mind, but If you are not sure about the oscillator, you could also connect the clock input of the SID directly to PIC Pin #17 (remove the oscillator before you are doing this!)Best Regards, Thorsten.
ma9 Posted May 7, 2005 Author Report Posted May 7, 2005 I've ordered a second sid kit so i'll double check the values between them... (and if i'll get them working i'll have a stereo sid ;) )
