Milkmansound
hello - I am about to start on another exciting midibox venture - and I think I would like to use the USB implementation on this one. Here is my dream: Midibox64 design, powered by USB that will be a dedicated control surface for Ableton Live/DAW mixing - with external power and midi (switched)so, here are my questions:1 - is that possible?2 - will the USB allow me to pass midi on to the core and back under OSX?3 - will I need to burn an eprom? If so - how do I go about doing that (I can use a PC if need be)thanks!
raphael
1 - is that possible?Yes, but one USB port can only deliver 500mA (maximum - most laptops only deliver 100mA!). Keep that im mind. So, don't tihnk about a LCD with backlight... 2 - will the USB allow me to pass midi on to the core and back under OSX?I think the MB USBModule is supported under OSX. Should be OK.3 - will I need to burn an eprom? If so - how do I go about doing that (I can use a PC if need be)Why do you think, you will have to programm a EPROM? The MB USB module uses a EEPROM similar to the bankstick module which is programmed via the AN2131SC (which is programmed via USB). No special equipment needed.Raphael
Milkmansound
thank you for taking a moment to asnwer those! Looks like I am good to go - I will see if I can find the output amperage of my USB on my ibook for an LCD - but becklighting is not essential.
