newbee question about the voltage regulator in core

I started building a MidiboxSid today, and I just finished building the core. The question is, does the voltage regulator have some kind of polarity? cause I think I soldered it the wrong way.

Yes, it has. Look at the pictures on the core page. The metal side has to point to the PIC chip.
