jackchaos
I've purchased a number of these 'Strip Boards' from SmashTV and I'm fishing for ideas on how to use them.http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/images/Sstripboard.jpgandhttp://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/images/LstripboardS.jpgI plan to mount my illuminated switch buttons on them and possibly use it as a connection point for pots and dins.If you look closely at the photo, you'll see the copper extends around the holes and across the board. Obviously this wouldn't work if I want to use holes that are on the same horizontal line. How would anyone recommend to isolate a soldered pin hole from another on the same horizontal row? ImAlive
Normally, this is done by cutting into the copper trace with a sharp cutter blade until it is through at the location where you want to separate the trace. You should check that the traces are isolated with a multimeter to be sure afterwards, though...
moebius
Hi.3mm drill bit. Use a hole as a guide and spin it carefully with your fingers. Don't drill a hole, but just enough to take a way the copper.Bye, Moebius
smashtv
While I don't use these much myself anymore for prototyping, when I did I used a Dremel tool and routing bit intended for plastics to tear off copper where I needed a gap. Too much time with a knife trying to electrically separate things caused this behavior... :)As with everything YMMV, but some care with the Dremel proved much less frustrating than using a knife for me.Best!Smash
