blackrazorus Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 I am getting ready to put together a MidiboxCV to drive my recently-constructed rackmount SoundLab Minisynth (http://www.musicfromouterspace.com) and I was a bit confused reading the instructions- can I use the bootloader pre-programmed pic from SmashTV for a basic (2 CV channels, using the "AOUT-LC" interface) version without needing a PIC programmer? I would love to be able to program the CORE module right from my OSX box via MIDI/whatever without needing to build/test/learn another microcontroller programmer. Am I on the right track? Any help would be welcome- I can't wait to start building, but I want to know in advance whei I am going to need to do.Thanks for a wonderful platform. It is really amazing. Quote
moxi Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 yes you can use a pre-burned PIC from SmashTV, then, you will have just to program the MIOS and the MB CV application thru standard MIDI interface.. Quote
Therezin Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Correct, the only thing you need a burner for is the bootloader, as MIOS and the application can be uploaded to it over MIDI. Quote
blackrazorus Posted October 2, 2006 Author Report Posted October 2, 2006 Wow! Thanks! I am going to go ahead and get started- it looks like the Midibox is going to be a great front-end for the soundlab. Quote
Therezin Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Be sure to let us know how it goes, I'm thinking of putting together an MBCV myself to control some of the stuff from MusicFromOuterSpace so I'd find it interesting to see how others go about it. Quote
