Guest spagano
hello therei am gathering parts to build the sid control unit. i have not used rotary encoders before. it seems like the ALPS ones are popular. is there a specific resolution or # of detents that are needed. it seems like 15 res / 30 detents is the standard. ALPS makes the EC11B series in many flavors - some have push-on switches - some don't. any assistance in helping me hone in on the right one would be much appreciated.would this one work ?http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=productsearch._listproductsearch&searchtype=starts+with&criteria=ec11b15203ad&searchby=PartNumber&x=13&y=9thanks again- scott
d2k
i think u prolly want the un-detented ones - for smoothless operation ;)the number of pulses doesn't really matter - it'll only effect how the param ur controlling will change with the amount of turn u apply to the encoder...i think ;pu could use one with switches - ud just connect these pins to the DIN like with regular switches - just make sure they're momentary type...
